When I first took the leap into multiboxing I wanted to 5 box but I found it really hard to justify the purchase of four extra accounts in order to five box right out of the gate. Even though we could easily afford it, it just seemed so incredibly extravagant. I knew my husband would be a really hard sell so I didn't even try.
So,I started 3 boxing, then took a long break. I was lured back by the goodness of RAF, and I decided to add another account. After getting about 6 4x teams to 60 in those three RAF months, I took another break and I'm just now returning and decided to add another account with RAF to get the extra characters I need to fill out those 6 teams.
So I'm finally getting my five box team and my husband is ok with it. Yay. :D
Maybe in a few years I'll be able to work my way up to 10 boxing. :p
I just started recently 10 boxing, mostly because I wanted a guild and did not want to join any or have to bother people for signatures.
I will also be transferring some toons around and will be messing around with 5 druids, pally, 3 mages, and a priest for 10boxing various pre-bc instances.
I started off 3-boxing with shamans, in part because I had accounts for me and my sons, and also because it just seemed right with each being able to Chain Heal themselves and hit everyone.
But I recently stepped up to 5-boxing for two reasons.
1) I wanted to level up more toons using RAF
2) I was getting tired of trying to fit 3-boxing into 5-man instances
