LOL. Thread had me laughing, especially the google images page. :P
I want to apologize for my outburst this morning, I was mostly frustrated because, for the most part, I want to help people and I felt like I was being mistreated simply because I've authored an alternative Multiboxing tool.
I re-read my original posts, and they were terse. I think I owe an apology to everyone who wasted their time reading my responses, especially the admin who was doing his job in keeping these forums clean.
For the record, I'm not here to spam, but I simply can't help tagging my signature with a link to the software I've written. I do see that one of my posts were retained so I appreciate that each deletion was at least a reviewed deletion and not a blanket removal of everything I've posted here.
That said, I did read the rules, and I saw the section concerning no advertising, I apologize again for not contact admins/operators for persmission, but in defense I truley believed I didn't need to. When I read the no advertising rule my belief was that this was to combat people pushing things like gold and powerlevelling sites/services. Being that this is a forum/site targeting dualboxers I didn't think posting a link in my signature would be a violation.
Also, some of my other posts may have been deleted because I was directing users to the Mubxo download page as part of a response to answer questions for users. For example, I had a post in the "Symbolic Linking in XP" thread, I noted some of the benefits of symbolic linking such as improvde load times due to NT Cache Manager being able to read-cache files that multiple processes (WoW) were reading. The offending bit, I believe is I also noted along the lines that "some tools, such as Mubox's Game Isolation feature, will handle this for you", again aside from attempting to provide some useful information I also "advertised" a product. My intent wasn't to advertise, so much as make readers aware that, as stated, Mubox has a feature that will symlink/junction WoW for you (e.g. a hassle-free experience.)
Again, my apologies to everyone.
What is the process of getting "approved" for advertising? I'd like to note I don't really want to advertise, per-se, but if there is a feature within Mubox that would help a user solve a particular problem I'd like to at least mention it. For example, in the Scripts and AddOns forum there was a thread about questing both master and slaves. I recently added full quest support to Mubox, and so provided a link to download the AddOn as well as some helpful info about how to use it (e.g. key-bindings and gameplay tactics.) Again, I didn't intend to advertise, my goal was to help. Prior to reading the post I didn't provide the AddOn for download, but I figured it would be helpful to anyone who wanted the behavior it offers and so I uploaded it and submitted a forum post.
Thanks guys,
Shaun Wilson :pinch:
I'd PM Ellay with your intents and he should get back to you with how you should proceed :)Quote:

This, and go easy on your signature if it is approved, and you'll see people warm up to you. Take a lot at the other developers and see how they handle advertising, most are VERY, VERY cautious about how they handle suggesting their products in unrelated threads. The developers you want to look for would be Keyclone, Lax, and Freddie, each bringing a unique product to the community and each have proven themselves to be for the greater good of the community.Quote:

Welcome to the board... I'm curious, how do you like multiboxing your warlocks? I'm toying around with 5X Warlocks or 5X Hunters just for annoyance factor.
What happened to trumpets :?:
Hi Shaun. I looked at your website and the Mubox pages on CodePlex. I think it's obvious that you're a good guy who's trying to create a good program.
I also downloaded your source code, since you give it away free. When I get a chance I'll look at it.
From time to time somebody posts here wishing there was a good all-around open-source multiboxing program. Now you come along and you're publishing an open-source multiboxing program. Seems to me that's a reason why people here would want to welcome you.
I wish you luck.

(they play trumpets when I stroll in)
I was looking over your application, do you have anymore screenshots / possible video tutorial, how similar is it to the foundation of "Multibox" which has been an abandoned app that sort of functions the same way, each pc uses a client the main launches a server.
I wish, I tried doing a video demo/toturial (5 times now) and I always seem to Bork it. I really suck at making vids. I have a really crappy video on my webserver, but I no longer post the link to it since people sent e-mail complaining about the codec used (xvid/divx) the lack of audio, and that it didn't really show how to use Mubox. If you want, you can view it @ http://www.mrshaunwilson.com/Mubox/mbx_amateur_vid.avi like I said, my video-making skills are "teh suck". Also, worth noting, this video shows the UI circa V1.1.0.4 just after Multicasting was ironed out, so some of the UI looks different now and there is no system tray icon yet. It's otherwise the same thing.
Since most of my time has gone into bettering the tool (and actually using it to play) I haven't spent much time trying to generate "Help" content. I get a lot of e-mail requesting these things (vids, screenshots, step-by-step instructions) and I usually write each and every user directly addressing their problems. So far it has worked well, I've only had to answer about 100 e-mails so far.
I've never used "Multibox". To be fair, I didn't even know it existed until about a week ago. I started "Multiboxing" through trial and error, I ran two instances of WoW locally and alt-tabbed, hammered spells, alt-tabbed back, hammered more spells. I felt like a master of alttab-cast-alttab-cast-alttab-cast! I would manually type in "/follow" for for the LONGEST time. Through this approach I pulled a destro lock and a holy priest up to L72.
Once I hit 72, I wanted something more. My goal is 5x locks, and a hpriest on standby. I obviously can't alttab all of them ;) (yes, i tried, miserable failure to say the least.)
I checked out wowwiki and they listed Synergy as well as a few other tools. I checked out synergy, but it still wasnt what I wanted, and I also didn't want to pay for anything (after all, I'm a programmer, why pay for what you can write yourself is my mentality) I also didn't want to use one of the "free and abandoned" tools.
So, not looking at any other options, I went with what I wanted and got to writing code. Within 2 days I had a janky app of my own, that did what I wanted it to do. I shared it with friends at home and work, and as I got feedback I made changes.
Mubox is a single application that installs itself as a tray icon, where you can launch a "Server" which acts as an ALT-TAB switcher for your clients. You can also launch one or more "Clients" from the systray ucon, each handles the process of launching your Game, multiplexing input, and so-on.
I guess in this way yes it is similar to "Multibox".
Mubox also ships with an AddOn I named "Muboxer", it is an optional component, similar to Jamba I think (again, I have no experience with Jamba, and only learned about it recently, I don't know how similar they are.)
I'll try and update the CodePlex mainpage with more screenshots, I've been trying to get feedback from people about a "step-by-step" guide I didn't have the time to put together until last night. My website isn't really conducive to promoting a product, so I have limited space to implement things like help topics. Thus, most help subjects are themed for display inside Mubox in a "Help Window". If you would like to review them without installing/running Mubox, they are all linked from this page: http://www.mrshaunwilson.com/Mubox/Pages/
So far I have a quick start, two topics covering server and client configuration, a quick and dirty FAQ and a detailed page that explains how to use the "Game Isolation" feature. I know these pages all look like dookie in a browser, like I said, these are themed for display within Mubox's Help Window because I didn't want to turn my website (a blog site) into a product promotion website. If you need more help reviewing Mubox for legitimacy don't hesistate to e-mail or PM me. The e-mail address I registered on dual-boxing.com is the same I use for collecting User Feedback on CodePlex.
Sorry for the Miniature Novel, I just wanted to provide you with as much info as possible,
Thanks Ellay!

I also welcome you Shaun. I downloaded both source and the installer after searching on google for Mubox since the links were taken off of here.
In looking at some of your information, I wasn't exactly sure why you mentioned that / commands in WoW don't propagate to the clients. I'm currently using Octopus (which isn't being updated any longer) and it allows me to type in / commands from the server to all clients. Other than one screen shot on your web site, I couldn't find a lot of information and documentation about how to configure Mubox. I'm willing to give it a try, but it's late for me right now so I will probably try it out this weekend.
Aye, in light of this info I reviewed the code and sure enough I wasn't sending the correct input arguments. While multicast was working, it appears WoW doesn't rely on keydown/keyup alone for textboxes (makes perfect sense.)Quote:

I have a pending change, but have not rebuilt/republished the fix. By this time tomorrow I'll be removing that little comment as it will no longer be true.
Also, once launched the Main Window is essentially a Help File. I didn't have a better place to submit help pages, since I use a blog engine on my personal website.
Thanks!
