Sorry I missed it in the original - any way to control the size of the embed - or make the current/default one a tad bit bigger ?

I'm having this same issue - but with Firefox! It was working fine until about 7 hours ago, then I started getting exactly what you describe. i cleared the cache and even rebooted, but nothing's changed in Firefox. I'm posting this from IE on the same machine (Windows 7), where I was able to log in and view the forums with no problems at all.
WHen this happens post the URL you're at. I'm 99% sure you're at the wrong URL, or at a bad URL. go to the main domain. http://www.dual-boxing.com or http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums.php
I can get this at
http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums.ph...splay.php?f=11
and when I try to pick a specific post, such as
http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums.ph...ewpost&t=12374
Clicking my username takes me back to the "Main Forums" page, which shows up fine. Trying to pick any forum or a topic from the "Last Post" column gets me the gutted (for lack of a better word) page described above.
yes, this is working as intended, because you are at the WRONG URL.
look at the url
you see how /showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=12374 is on the end of forums.php? thats a BAD URL. Just to go to http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums.php
- Automatic image resizing now works, any image wider than 700px will automatically be resized.
GAH! Sorry for the brain fart.
I still had http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums.php/index.php? set on my bookmarks bar and totally missed that that's what was screwing me up.
Thanks for sorting me out. :)
can you add a server redirect from old to new or at least from old/bad to toplevel so people don't get stuck on that weird behavior ?
I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but it says I have 27 notifications. This happened after I received a private message. Now I'm a nice guy, but I'm really not popular enough to get 27 unread emails, especially when my inbox only has 1 in it. I think what happened was I had 26 private messages before the transfer, and now they're stuck in limbo somehow even though I went through and market them all as read.
Yes. the answer is in the OP.
Quote:
Anyone having issues with old PMs not in your inbox, create a folder, and they should appear in that folder, this was just a bug on the import.
Sure. you provide me a list of everyone's old bookmarks and I'll get right on it. So the short answer is no. The long answer is, No because I have to have an idea of the URL their coming in from before I can begin to rewrite it.
I created a new folder (named it "Old Messages") and nothing happened to the notifications. I now have a "Subscriptions" folder and an "Old Messages" folder. I emptied my inbox (there was only one new message in there anyway) but it's still showing 27 unread messages. The problem is I can't access those messages, or see a list of the messages, anywhere.
I've set up some custom profile fields that are specific to multiboxing
http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=editprofile
You can currently add the game / server / number of accounts / what you use to multicast / class makeup. If anyone has any ideas for fields, please let me know. You can view mine here: http://www.dual-boxing.com/member.php?u=9879
Sorry, Svpernova, but as usual, you were correct. As soon as I created a new MAIL folder the messages were put in there and I could mark them as read. When I created a new folder earlier I mistakenly created a new subscriptions folder, which obviously didn't do anything to my mail message notifications.
One quirk:
When editing a post and hitting save, the screen just sits there. The post has been edited, but there's no confirmation to the user letting them know it has been saved. This is different then if you go into advanced editing and then hit save it go back to the thread so you can see your recently edited post.
When I edit something, it's default the quick editor, not the full blown advanced, this is intended. When you hit Save, it should refresh the page and show you the same page of the thread you were look at before you hit the edit button. If this is not what is happening, there is something not getting handled right on the browser. I'll go check the usergroups to make sure it's not a permission / usergruop setting.
Edit: there is nothing server side keeping the post edit function from working as described.
Hmm, very strange. The desired action you described is exactly what I was hoping for (refresh the page and show the same page instead of just staying at the edit box) but for some reason it's not doing that for me. If I go to advanced edit then after editing it does go back to the page I was on and refresh.
"This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between reporting posts. Please try again in 14 seconds." Ugh!! Can we kill that timer or something? Or is there some way just to report a user for spam? Also, there's no limit on reports? I think I reported a post twice...the old forums, once you reported a post once, it was not re-reportable.
Using IE and checking out the "Dual-Boxing.com Main Forums" the latest post title seems to expand the area, causing it to look disorderly and in some cases severly shrink the other fields.
That's cool if it's an intended change, but IMO it looks pretty awful. I don't usually browse in a maximized window so it gets shrunk quite a bit regardless of my resolution (unless it's extremely high of course). Using a non maximized window this particular thread title is taking up about 80% of the room since the thread title "has" to be on one line, whereas the forum name has "wrap text" or something like that enabled making it much better.
I would recommend fixed width for all the fields and just wrap the text. That will solve the problem of thread titles being cutoff without making it look sloppy.
I got a php error when I uploaded an avatar file, something like basedir_include(), it redirected me too fast so I didn't read the whole thing. Clicking save after the upload gave me an "Upload failed" message, but my avatar is there so it obviously works.
Is it just me, or am I the only one unable to login using Firefox? Using 3.0.13, on a Windows 7 64bit system, clicking on any links from the forum basically just refreshes the page. Unable to login, unable to click on FAQ links, Register, etc. Clicking any of that just shows the main page.
Unable to also view posts, can click into one of the forums, but doesn't show any messages, that DOES change the page though. It switches to the "who's online" and such content in the main content frame, header remains the dual-boxing.com current header and menu bar.
Very odd, but I'm able to login using Internet Explorer 8 on the same system
Cheers
EDIT: GAH! I just saw there was 11 pages, only saw 3 previously, went back to page 10 and this has already been addressed...old bookmark, removing everything back to /forums.php, ugh my bad. :) Resolved!
I also got the error msg described by kadaan when upgrading both my new profile and icon images - yet, the images did actually update
Another small thing which appears to be happening - I frequent the EQ2 forum, yet everytime I enter the forum I have to re-sort the page by 'latest post' as it keeps forgetting and putting the posts in some random order (a cookie problem???)
Oh, and as an optional extra - is there ever going to be be 'mark all as read' or 'show latest posts' buttons like on the last forum as I used them all the time to work out what had been updated recently
Besdies those niggles - I like the new forum - pretty clean, nice work and a big thankyou for giving all us mboxers a 'home'
mark all read is under Quick Links. I use New Posts but not sure if that is what you are looking for
It's probably working as intended, but it wouldn't be my choice of configuration.
When I'm at the Main Forums page I can see each subforum that has unread posts. However, that indicator won't go off until I've actually visited every topic in the subforum. What I would rather happen is if the indicator on the Main Forums page for new post was only lit up if there have been new posts since I last visited that subforum. That way I don't have to click on every new thread in General Discussion in order to get the indicator to mean anything when I'm on the Main Forums page. Otherwise I keep on going into General Discussion, seeing that there are the same threads I didn't want to read before (with no new posts), and never knowing if there is actual new posts since my last visit to the subforum.
Confusing enough? :)
Another thing about the new message indicator, it will go on if you post a new message to a thread, even if there aren't any other new posts. So if I post a message and then go to the Main Forums page the new message indicator will stay on until I go read what I just posted.
Hey
Just noticed another small thing which isn't really a hassle but wanted to check anyway
Sometimes I log on as Noxxy, other times I just go into 'visitor mode' for a quick check of the posts
I have noticed that when I log on as Noxxy and I click a person's avatar, I get to see whatever their profile picture is plus their details - yet - when I am just a visitor and I click their avatar, I get all the person's details but no profile picture - even tried it on my own avatar and visitor mode definately doesn't show a profile picture - not sure if it's a privacy thing or not to stop lurkers or something
Thanks,
N0x
This is one of the few things I've configured this way. The general thinking is not displaying these images to visitors saves bandwidth, thus saving server resources How much does it save? meh, it may be trivial, but it was one of those "lets see if it matters" type of things.
Perhaps what I'm about to describe is related to the above problem, but I'm not sure. From the Main Forums page if I click on the thread title for the most recent post then everything works great and I go to the last unread post on that thread. However, if I then hit the Forums link at the top of every page to bring me back to the Main Forums section. Even if all threads are read in a subforum (the one I just visited) it still shows the indicator light for a new post. The only way to get that off is to visit the forums, where I find there are no new posts and I just needed to click on the subforum.
Other message boards I visit have the new post indicator go off as soon as you visit that forum, regardless if you've read all the threads (I mentioned this in another post and you said working as intended). I implore you to make these forums the same way as I feel not doing so is causing other issues, such as the one I just described. It's a bit of a pain to click on mark forum as read every single time (I know, I'm lazy).
With all these suggestion, thanks for your hard work Svpernova!
