I honestly don't know much about how local it is but one would think it would be generating quite a bit of controversy as well. I guess prop 8 is a more controversial issue.
So prostitution is less of an issue than gay marriage? Because only gays could marry but everybody could theoretically go to a hooker?
I'm left wondering how this will effect the gay hooker market. Could be certain politicians are trying to bankrupt these poor folk!
That's funny... I'm originally from Utah, and if you haven't heard. Prop 8 is being backed by the Mormon church they invested millions, and are having "good" mormons donate their time to call Californians and tell them to vote yes on 8. I know this because my grandparents are very Mormon.Quote:

If you don't like politics or political advertising than I would suggest moving to a different state. California loves to make everything a political issue and they are always changing their view on those issues. e.g. in S.F. they wanted to stop grocery stores from using paper bags because it would help to save trees. Now they want to eliminate plastic bags because they are filling our landfills, but paper bags are now a better alternative to plastic because they're made from recycled paper.
another example: in the 70's smog and pollution was blocking the suns rays and the world was heading towards the next ice age. so california pushed to stop making leaded gas and made all cars have catalytic converters. thus making car exhaust 96% cleaner. now 30 years later we are somehow heading toward global warming, because too many of the suns ray are hitting the earth. the solution to global warming than is to bring back leaded gas, just say no to kyoto.
everyone not living in california or New York city, we need to figure out how to get rid of these two groups that are the cause of most problems facing this nation.
p.s. I hope you guys/gals realize that your getting those "vote yes for prop 8" ads because you live in california. people in different regions of the country and the world get different ads. google is amazing in the way they can control web advertising. e.g. I am currently in thailand and i keep seeing ads for "purchasing property in india".
p.s.s. this should be in the off topics, but than fewer people would read it. the best way to kill this topic would be to make it a sticky or put it in the wiki.
One last thing.....
let the gays get married, why should they be the only ones happy.

it's true i do believe in equality for all, what i don't believe in is a select minority imposing their will on the majority. the economical problems facing the u.s. this year are a direct result of a select few living in those two geographical locals.
besides New yorkers universal sense of superiority and love of all things new york, the U.S. economy has derailed because of excess and greed from a few investment banks headquartered in N.Y. city. (to simplify this post for everyone i will not go into great detail, just know i make my living as an investor) bear stearns, lehman brothers, goldman sachs, merril lynch and morgan stanley all manipulated the stock market to make huge profits and fortunes by selling assets with little or no value to less informed investors. which our gov't is now raising over $2 trillion trying to save our economy and stop a depression. (you can thank goldman sachs for the recent rise of gas from $2 a gallon to over $4). after the u.s. gov't wall street has the greatest influence on our economy. New York is the still the banking center of the world, and still the center for greed and excess.
lets not break up all of california, lets first work on the greater Los Angeles and the Bay area first. These two areas seem to be the starting point for a vast majority of well intentioned social and environmental issues. the problem with people with well intentions is they are never around to fix the unintended consequences their cause creates. Because CA has the most electoral college votes and members in the congress, what happens in CA eventually happens in the rest of the country. Since our gov't has a long history of screwing up everything they do(excluding the 6 things the constitution mandates that they actually do), the less that CA does the better the rest of the country will be. (our dependance on foreign oil is directly linked to CA ban on off shore drilling and oil exploration)
in summery, or trying to make a long post short, I don't want to banish these two groups of people from the planet, that would be wrong of me and against my belief that the few should not be allowed to make decisions on the many. I am just suggesting that the rest of the country would greatly benefit if these two groups were broken up in such a way that they could not influence the rest of us with their unintended consequences.
