Nice. I just use Octopus to do that for me. I enter the password once from my main computer but all of the WoW screens come up from Octopus for me. Thanks to the great write up by Ughmahedhurtz, I can use the maximizer in Octopus now.Quote:

This is starting to turn epic. 9000+ page views.... it is almost like a cold war. Russians vs the US. This has promise, even if Sam is slow to get out of the gate.
Guys - whether you agree or disagree with what Sam is doing, please keep the dicussions civil. Trading of personal insults won't be tolerated.
Don't be like this guy!

Regarding boxing different raidbosses in wow, I must agree that quite a few of them simply are not feasible to box, simply because you have to (quoting my old GM) "GET OUT OF THE FECKING FIRE" - where fire can be fire, stonespikes, blizzard, green, yellow, red, blue fire, waterspouts, meteors, poison, volcanoes, termites, ticking timebombs, aoe, pbaoe, falling debris, godzilla tailswipes or otherwise.
Examples: Baron Geddon in Molten Core - fire elemental, does Hellfire type AoE around himself that ticks for a few thousand firedmg, and randomly targets a raidmember (this can be the tank aswell) and debuffs them with a living bomb, meaning they explode and deal loads of damage to themselves and those around them - you do not die from this, but you are propelled into the air, and the added falldamage will often kill you. 2 bombs in a row on top of your raid, will most likely wipe you - 25 chainheals might be enough to save it though, so perhaps the fight can simply be healed through. Then again, Molten Core is by far the easiest lvl 60 raidinstance (excluding Zul'gurub, as that actually contains more technical fights than MC).
Naxxramas has been brought up - ok, go read up on the 4 horsemen fight. There is NO way in the world you will box that fight. It's simply not possible. 4 different stacking debuffs from the bosses, that each cover 25% of the room - provided you have seperated the 4 bosses into each corner of the room. Now, the bosses themselves also has a bunch of different abilities, none too hard to deal with really. the mechanic just means, that you will have to switch tanks, healers and dps, in a circular pattern, without leaving either of the bosses untanked at any time (because of even one of them moves to the middle of the room, you're d-e-a-d). This fight is easier as lvl 70, I've done it with 21 people in raid - BUT that is only because each and every person there had above 10k health - myself as a hunter sitting @ 13k raidbuffed. This allowed for some "elbowroom" for small mistakes.
Twin Emperors in AQ40: must be tanked apart, if 1 of them dies, so does the other. One is immune to spelldmg, the other immune to physical. If they are not kept separated across the room, they heal eachother for more dps than you can muster. This again means 4 tanks - 2 physical, 2 spelldmg. Also, adds are joining the fight 2-3 at a time.
Heigan in Naxxramas: phase 1 = nuke from podium, while tank moves him back and forth between poison splashes, commonly known as "dancing". phase 2 then teleports heigan to the podium, and the raid has to run onto the floor, doing the "dance" between poison splashes. The fight switches between those 2 phases, throughout the fight. Also, as a little "twist" - in phase 1 he randomly teleports 3 people into a hallway outside the room, where those 3 then have to run a sort of gauntlet, past mindflaying worms and maggots. And then rejoin the fight between splashes.
TBC instances contain loads of fights, where the raid has to split up and do separate tasks. A real challenge(read: impossible) would be Mount Hyjal and Archimonde. Watch a video of the fight, and you will be convinced.
Actually, watching videos after reading a quick tactic on bosskillers or wowwiki can be a very good way to see which fights are simply not doable.
On the other hand, a rogue has tanked Illidan, so with the right gear and spec, people's inginuity continues to surprise.
Offtopic but:
Some bosses are even soloable, warrior tanks / tankadins can solo garr - some people in my guild do it.Quote:
Even then, that place has been 3 man'd.
be very, very careful of what you are doing with programs launching WoW. I believe you use WinEQ2, Blizzard has banned people for launchign WoW under that before (some bans were reversed, some were not). Doing stuff like auto entering passwords or auto reconnecting could be potential grounds for getting your account banned. Also while inside the game, the basic rule is that every action requires the user to type in a key/mouseclick, and you cannot "chain" actions unless its inside a wow macro (using /stopcasting, and even then that only works for specific spells and only 2 chain). Many AHK users write scripts that try to go around this, and they are just asking for trouble.Quote:

I know you are going to argue and say what you are doing is not botting, automation, etc, etc. it does not matter what you or I think, all that matters is what Blizzard thinks. They are much, much harsher than SOE (EQ) in terms of bans and getting account bans reversed is very difficult. WinEQ2 imo is not a great platform to run WoW under, because it so closely shares the codebase with Innerspace and Blizzard has heavily targeted Innerspace this year for banning (multiple banwaves). The way warden works is if it detects something it doesn't like, your account is auto banned without a single human review, and then getting your account unbanned can take weeks and many emails/faxes.
Anything more than 10 is setting yourself up for disappointment.
I could easily expand my 10 into 25 (or 40), and I've considered it on many occasions, but there are no realistic goals to be accomplished in World of Warcraft for anything beyond 10 characters.
I mean if your goal is to raid cities/towns of the enemy faction, sure you can do it, but Wow wasn't designed with that as an endgame style of play to be rewarding on a longterm basis. So you get your kicks for a few days, but the fun will quickly fade. Ask Fur how often he goes to Gadget to raise hell. I read a post of his awhile back that was rather amusing, and it sounded like he had fun, but I doubt he did it more than once or twice (i believe it was in the hunter post). When you extrapolate that 5 man raid of a small town to 25+ of a player city.. it's pretty much the same and there are no tangible rewards to be had.
As many people have posted before in this thread, most raid boss encounters are incredibly complex and they are simply not doable as a single individual. I can't do Netherspite in Karazhan for this reason, and he's easy compared to some of the other mechanics that are employed to make other raid bosses difficult and exciting to fight. I 3 boxed Netherspite before, but never got him down 10-boxing the encounter solo.
It's just a guess, but I highly doubt any of the 10 mans in WotLK will be any easier than Karazhan or Zul'Aman.
Oh, and I proclaim myself as the best PVE boxer, because I've actually 10 boxed my way through a raid dungeon.
Keep us updated and let us know when you guys catch up.
Well said. :thumbup:Quote:

Man, I joined the RAF 2 weeks after it came out. Then I took a "casual" 2 weeks to level 4 toons.
Level 45 Shaman + 45 Warlock = 12 hours.
Level 61 Shaman + 60 Mage = 26 hours.
I kinda stopped for a bit after getting the Shaman to 61.
