Sitting in popular BoE farming areas as a multiboxer is going to get you flagged repeatedly by angry players. The GM shows up, does a few things and observes what they believe (and probably rightfully so many times) a bot just repeatedly going to X, Y and Z farming mobs. I emphasize X, Y and Z as very important here. It's something of a hallmark bot behavior and its very easy to spot. Unfortunately when our slaves are running behind the master it kinda looks the same but isn't quite the same thing as 5-10 characters CTM clicking to the same locations over and over again.
The teleport test is pretty simple. A greater distance than follow and IWT should guarantee that a bot is operating under CTM automated click circumstances if they continue to B-line for the target. Unfortunately most of us have CTM on for interacting with stuff so that's another false flag.
I don't know if I've ever been teleport tested but sometimes characters just wind up not following or have the appearance of not following. But now that I think about it that was probably a GM randomly teleporting one of them so follow broke and they sat there unattended which verified multiboxer not botter. I'm talking rare circumstances not getting stuck on a random rock in the road.
tl;dr: Don't give them any reason to suspect you are botting. It's shitty but the more frequently you involve yourself with other players the more likely they are going to abuse the report feature. Because they envy you and they're assholes. It's really that simple.
Along the lines of teleporting. I've been doing the Freehold Porter/Great Sea Privateer farm (no mount but no competition on a large server). Occasionally there will be an elite mob that comes out of nowhere. One of his abilities is a disorient, he doesn't hit hard, but has a bit of HP. It is also not interruptable, so I have to collect my team back to the statue after he's dead. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the mob, but it is not the 'rares' on that little island, Barman or Accoutant. Could this be a way to 'check' for botting? To see how I react to the random NPC?
Maybe they do other tests vs people that arent known to be a multiboxer. Who knows.
Mind you, ive farmed with 15+ characters for hours almost daily since oct 2017. In public. And ive yet to see any of my toons get moved around on any spot. The only thing ive noticed is that one of my characters could be dead or logged out, when i visit the monitors. As you may know i only visit my monitors around once every 45 min. As im sitting in the sofa or laying in bed and press the keyboard buttons casually. No issues so far.
So there seem to be some "grace" periode, which you have available, before they will believe you must be a bot. But then again, they do have the ability to also track the periode between each keypress and much more.
Ive never used melee characters.
This is my most used farm macro:
/cleartarget
/targetenemy [noharm]
/petattack (optional, class dependant)
/cast spell or castsequence
Hunter example single target:
/cleartarget
/targetenemy [noharm]
/petattack
/cast [@pet, nodead, exists] Misdirection
/castsequence barbed shot, kill command, cobra shot, cobra shot, cobra shot
Create a straight broadcast button: this is your favorite spam farm button.
F.ex button "1":
Create additional steps as needed as a re-map with "1".
First keypress = macro to delete all greys
2nd keypress: single target
3rd: single target
4th: single target
5th: single target
6th: single target
7th: single target
8th: single target
9th: single target
10: 3 (mend pet / small heal)
etc
etc
etc instant self heal
etc
20th: spacebar (prevent to go afk)
21 2 (loot-a-arang)
21 2 (loot-a-rang)
etc
etc
macro to delete all green items
etc
insert group heal
etc
etc
and so on.
Depending on the spot, you may have to adjust a little bit, f.ex if you need to heal a bit more often on one spot compared to another. And you could also re-map to a "aoe macro" in between here and there.
If the mobs die fast, but its handy to misdirect to the pets, cause the mobs hit hard, cd will reset and you can use it on every mob:
aoe example:
/cleartarget
/targetenemy [noharm]
/petattack
/cast [@pet, nodead, exists] Misdirection
/castsequence barbed shot, kill command, cobra shot, cobra shot, a murder of crows, multi-shot, cobra shot
If the mobs die very fast and your own health isnt any issues: (no need to misdirect)
/cleartarget
/targetenemy [noharm]
/petattack
/castsequence barbed shot, kill command, cobra shot, cobra shot, a murder of crows, multi-shot, cobra shot
(the entire area will be 100% filled with crows in the air, fun times).
Most of my farm buttons have around 200 steps to cover most situations.
"So, 200 keypresses, then it goes back to step 1 again".
@wowbox40 : how do you loot when not watching screens?
I use the loot-a-rang toy every 1 to 1,5 min. Just get a stopclock and make sure you atleast have a step, so you loot around once per minute or so. That way you dont miss any loot. If need be, create a doublestep to loot twice.
Yep. You only need rank 1 now even to use it. /cheer

That post hurts multiboxers more than botters do.
removed
Very well, i removed it. Now remove you quotes please. Sorry for bringing up a sore subject.
rip my actual name is in that :\ aahh, gotta go edit it all out "quotes also contain it :P, my bad for not removing it form my copy pastes in the first place"
/silent prayer to all the good 5man hyperspawn spots that got hit by massive nerfs the last 24 hours. As in: before almost instant respawn, now several minutes between each time.
Well, I've spent the last few days updating addons and getting my WoW setup ready to reactivate.... but between the multiboxer ban threads and this news of nerfing farming spots... sort of make me wonder if reactivating will be a waste of time.
You wont get banned if you follow their rules and dont have any neferious programs/software running in the background. Its also wise to inform Blizzard that you are a multiboxer and a bit on what you are doing and which programs you use.
The 5man spots are getting nerfed much faster and much harder than i ever thought was possible. Good spots before, are now totally unusable, a dessert.
Though there are lots of spots everywhere in the public, if you have 10 characters available to kill the mobs that share a spawntimer.
I learned a bit from legion, in that i should always investigate a area that looks promessing, before i complete the quest in that area. Reason being that if its a phased area of the map, and i find a great respawn spot, i rarely if never will get any competition. Everytime i was on a quest, that phased me, i visitted the known spots from beta etc and took a look around, before completing it.
My current fave spots, i probably see a couple of players running by in the distance, but they very rarely came and talk to me. They dont really have any reason to be in the area where i am, as there isnt any mobs that will complete the quest they are on, where im at. I wont tell where these spots are, obviously. These spots have never dropped any mounts. They do drop boe's though, and the usual mats.
If i were you and a new player, i would rather get a 10man up and running and herb and mine, then/also learn how to use TSM.
I happened to get a new fiber internet connection lately and its yet to loose connection. Ive had the last days off work and ive been farming around 8 hours a day pretty intensely, while catching up on a tv marathon serie i just noticed.
During these 16 hours of stand still farm, the only abnormal event was around the 8 hour mark, where account nr 5 got disconnected... accidently just as i came back to the pc.
I smelled a botcheck hehe /tinfoil hat
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=na_pwx3jUBs
Lmao. All accounts except nr 5 got disconnected. Blizzard doing their checks im sure. https://7chan.org/phi/src/148261917389.jpg
Seems they have new tactics. Now account 6 disconnected and around 10 secs later the "various clumps" of my characters got "fearedbombed" all over the place, resulting in only a few actually beeing able to attack anything. Was kinda hilarious.
Your guess is as good as mine John.
I havent seen many other players around either.
No changes to how i farm. Same method for the last 6 months or so.
Wowbox40
All your last 3 posts points to "botting" just keep your mouth shut on the this forum it making us look bad!!!!!!!
You do realise ive been actively doing stand still farming as my main income of gold etc for the last 12 months. I have never botted and i dont condone it. You have no idea how often i get tested ingame, to test if im botting. Its quite often. More often that you might think. If i were botting i would have banned a very long time ago. Ive yet to have a single strike on any of my accounts.
So now we arent allowed to discuss what can happen during a stand still boe farm?
Its a high risk activity, and you will get checked. If you were botting you would be banned pretty fast.
And as i mentioned awhile back, i have a website with every detail of my setup, macroes, pictures etc. Which blizzard have full access to. Im completly open with them on everything regarding my farming. I even have a thread for each of the farmspots i use. They get nerfed around every 2-4 months, but thats no problem. Another spot is just over the next hill, usually.
i feel like im talking to a wall here, but im going to give this another try. from one socially inept person to another, let me clue you in.
there's a "spirit" to the game, and you are going against it. if multiboxing as a hobby is to continue, people like you need to be banned.
its not "funny", "interesting" or in any way "entertaining" to hear about your game-play being actively interrupted by game-masters, it is TERRIFYING. and whats worse, you don't seem to understand it. they don't want you doing what you are doing, is it really that hard to understand?
if you continue, you are putting us all at risk.
bth, this last wave of multiboxers that do it just for farming are cancer, cant wait until blizzard to just ban boxing completely... or hopefully we get lucky and they just revert the multi loot change... one can only hope.
Hello WoWBox40, can you PM me your website please? Thanks
wtf are u talking about?!! Most ppl that mutlibox farm some kind of farm, if its the stand farm for cloth or the farm for picking herbs or getting the ore. Some how we need to pay for the accounts via gold, if it werent for the gold token we can get via the gold we make I surely wouldnt be boxing.
I buy the majority of the expansions with battlenet balance. And when one characters subscripion lapses, i can reactivate it by paying with ingame gold at the character select screen. So i play "totally free". And will for many years to come.
I guess i could stop farming, but its a kinda relaxing side activity while im reading books after work. Doing some studying at the university, so i can apply for a more cushy and better paid officejob in the near future.
I dont believe this to be true. I have pretty regular dialoge with gamemasters and they have always been very friendly towards me, even cheerfull. There has never been any sign of them not wanting me to do what im doing. Im pretty sure they would let me know if things where to be otherwise. On the other hand, it appear their automated systems do investigate me once in awhile, maybe based on player rapports. When "warden", the anticheat software doesnt find anything on my computers, it seem to do other tests to try see if im actually behind the keyboard. And it probably does this towards all/any players, if rapported. But thats fine ofcourse.
Also, i play on some of the largest realms and back in legion there were maaaaany multiboxers farming. Im pretty sure i know about almost every inch of bfa and ive only seen 2 other multiboxers (one 5man stand still farmer and one 10 druid herb collector), thats it. I guess the others got banned or quitted ? :p
Also, people that do join in on the farming randomly are very thankfull and there is loot for everyone.
Back in MoP, I mboxed raid-content and had GMs porting me around making sure I wasn't doing anything 'shady'.
In WoD I had my 20m roaming gank squad where I would camp towns, cities etc. GMs would talk to me, watch, laugh and also thank me for only camping one area for 15-30 minutes and leaving for a while so as to not truly disrupt gameplay for others (I also played on a server where there was no horde.. max level it was split 1200ish for horde and 78,400ish for alliance).
In Legion I was Perma-banned for standstill farming, I nearly lost everything. Mostly because they said I was involved with RMT and I defended myself based on that-- which wasn't what they banned me for. Was quickly reversed when I found out what the real issue and sorted it out.
In BFA I decided to pretty much stay in constant contact with 'Blizzard' by way of online tickets. Anytime I do something 'suspicious' they are aware of it before I even do it. During the black friday sales I spent 65m gold+ and bought a crazy amount of items, pets, gamekeys, mounts (etc) and had huuuuuge giveaways. Did all sorts of crazy server events for fun. I literally sent my entire setup with a recording of how it operates which they thanked me for.
If 'they' don't want you doing something they will break it. If you find a way around it they will hotfix it.
'They' personally called Malseph and asked him to stop 'something' he was doing that they didn't like (Malseph is a decent boxer, PVP and stomps BGs).
The 'spirit' of the game is what you make of it and I feel it's quite informative when boxers talk about (legal-ToS) things they do that might involve a GM because it can look suss. The game evolves. The players do too. Things that didn't exist 2 years ago now do. I dunno.
Every single time they find your standstill AoE farming area they nerf it, that certainly seems like they don't want you to doing it. They let you because you're not botting.
Though if they really didn't want you to they could just add diminishing returns to the loot. Like every time you attack a certain mob the loot reduced 1% and increased 1% attacking a different type mob or different area.
I would love having tons of gold, but I have some social anxiety and cant handle the stress of it, I would rather hide and not be noticed. Other people box for gold advantage I box so I don't have to play with others.
They nerf the farming spots when they become popular via Youtube. Most of those (BFA) aren't even 'stand-still', the players are active and running around.
People still 'stand-still' farm that place in Nagrand for sumptuous fur/leather haha.
Who knows what Blizzard use to decide if an area is too good or not.
