If you like crafting as much as gold you can try making your own small markets. Selling profession kits, certain food eating achievements, and crafted transmog gear.
I don't do regular transmog gear though because it ends up being a huge inventory for one or two sales a day and that gives me a headache, even if there is positive cash flow.
Jeez, forgot about Transmog. Thanks for bringing it up.
I happily went and checked out all the rarer stuff, some people rely on Auctioneer too much.
Example Ironhide gauntlets (of the monkey or something) on the AH, never seen before - 22g. Other variations of Ironhide Gaunts were selling for 2k+.
>_> ez.
Thanks for the ideas, some different areas I had neglected :)
So instances are even better to grind out gold now.
I'm sure some of the crazies will play all 5 characters and control them at once in separate 80-85 25m raids now, that should make a bit :O
I didn't realise I had so many motes of harmony over my characters, 742 golden lotus lol All gone at 45 a piece :D
If you have lots of unused lvl 90 chars you can place them at Timeless Question NPC. You get 45g per daily for just logging in and letting Addon answer it. Currently doing it with 40 chars (going for Stay Classy guild achi for fun) and its adding up nicely. I just hope Blizzard doesn't make quest one-per account only like Blingtron one .
thank you benjii that is smart
Now guild levels are removed you could for Alliance anyway get one team to Stockades level then freeze their xp.. own a bunch of guilds and do the 7 runs per guild very fast for the gold..
Didn't they change it so that you only get 250 gold for 7 dungeons instead of 250g per dungeon? Even if not its only 20k gold per week. Which is not worth. 77 dungeons even at 5 mins per dungeon is 6.4 hours of time for that gold which is easily acquired in other ways. In 6.4 hours even at 2.5-4k gold per hour (easily doable) you generate ~16-20k.
Benji's method is also rather not worth the time either due to the amount of gold you make from it being only around 2k for 40 toons. But in the same regard benji's method is ~14k per week with a full account of characters.
-shrugs-
Getting to level 17 takes no time at all though.
Nah it's 250g per run.. and for someone on a new realm with a new team I think it's still good.
So what other ways are easier?
On a new realm sure its a good means of getting some things for yourself to get started. But even then a single character farming shra'ves makes more gold "per hour" especially if you have tailoring to make the cloak so you are not relying on the AH to sell cloth. Before that it was krasarang wilds at the fishing village.
5k+ per hour is pretty easily obtainable especially if you have a boxing team with AOE like mages/boomkin or something. At this point in the expansion it isn't quite the 10-20k per hour I use to get due to them nerfing the gold trinkets as well as adding the reduced loot after X time from grinding mobs.
Don't get me wrong the gold with no AH is great but its still not time efficient if you are capable of other things.
I'm not a fan of mob grinding myself and would rather do dungeons or mine lol - I tried grinding that place once.. I was falling asleep.
Not sure if this is true but..

She posted an updated video with proof. Not sure how i feel about it. I do not grind a lot.. but do sometimes.

I know how I feel about it. I am extremely opposed to anti-bot mechanics that effect me as a player in any negative way. Bots give the world cheaper mats and other than in PVP aren't effecting me.
I don't grind much but the idea that when I want to grind my loot is going to be reduced makes me see red.
I don't think it affects loot, does it? Just XP, right?
Does it effect mobs @ max level? I.e pet farming? That would be awful, /cancel worthy even.
Its Blizzard's responsibility to balance things. If there are two ways to level or two ways to earn gold, they need to make sure one way isn't a great advantage over another.
I do not see this as having anything to do with botting, or boxing. We must be not but a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of solo players that are out farming to level. That's what they are trying to balance, the 99% of the realm, not us.
Oh but yes, an annoying pain for me as a boxer. It will change alot of things for the worse.
A bit more information:
1. The nerf does not follow you from server to server. If you get invited to another server you get full experience/items again. (does not include phasing someone else to your server from another server)
2. If you are not the one killing and are within exp range of mobs they will grant full exp (tested at 85 and then again at 87... at 87 the anti-grind did not kick in where as at 85 it did vs 90 mobs as an anti-power leveling mechanic)
3. Loot nerf is about 25-30% from my experience.
4. Its a very necessary thing from what i've seen from beta videos that lots of mobs are dropping ~1g per kill. (can't confirm that anymore). It also stops blizzard from needing to worry about instant respawns which allows for those doing quests to get their kills easier and quicker while "punishing" those whom are farming the same mobs over and over.
5. You can move from spot to spot (if you have multiple places to grind) and the penalty will not persist.
It isn't a very good anti-bot mechanic because bots do dungeons, bgs and quests as well.
It does hurt AOE farming for gold very badly if you do not have characters on multiple servers to transfer to.
Blizzard has responded to the "anti-grind" mechanic:
This isn't intended to be an "anti-grind" mechanic. It's intended to be an "anti-exploit" mechanic that programmatically addresses power-leveling abuses, with the aim of letting us reward legitimate players more generously. In the past, we've often had little choice but to drastically reduce the experience awarded by certain respawning bosses or enemies that are locked in combat with other NPCs, because otherwise they'd be abused. That always felt bad to the regular player who was just passing through in the course of questing or exploration and got unexpectedly little or no experience for killing something. The goal was to come up with an approach that would be invisible to most players, but discourage sitting there and repeatedly farming the same mob for long stretches of time in order to gain experience. Alternatives like questing, dungeons, or PvP are all supposed to be more lucrative than that - WoW has never been a game in which mass-killing mobs for experience was the most efficient route.
That said, clearly this implementation is far too strict, and is triggering from a wide variety of normal activity. We're going to disable the functionality entirely and look into a much more narrowly targeted approach if and when we reintroduce it. Apologies for the inconvenience and the lack of response on the issue - we were working on understanding exactly where the algorithm was going awry, and now that we've done so, we'll be taking action in the near future.

I don't grind that often. i have done the "tag mob with nubblet and let higher toons kill it" to power level alts. BUT i have only done that a handful of times. The only other time i grinded( <is that a word? lol ) mobs was to farm those stupid motes of harmony.. because every trade needed them, and i have all trades covered ( and then some ).
When i do feel i have to grind for some dropped item, i just spark up a , very legal here in Colorado, doob, turn up the Eagles and just kill until i cant stand it. But its not somthing i can do everyday, all the time, like some people can.
That said, the above blue response and explanation make very good sense.
i lold when they said wow was never a game when you grind on mobs to level
I lvled soo many alts to 90 on the Sprites at the start of this expansion and sold 7 alani mounts while doing so. Im glad they are changing this back for now.
*Sit back and see what gets broken instead*
Anyway im killing mobs on the isle of giants for the Dino bones, they are selling for 5k a stack on my server and you can kill the dinosaurs really fast while boxing. 10-12k per hr.
Can get 100+ sha crystals per hour with the frogs if you have plate/mail/leather/cloth user that are enchanters.
