With my method and 3 new scrub 80s in my team, unfortunately sometimes it takes me 2 cores to finish ahune. :(

wait, what do you mean farm? This is a once a day deal right??
You can do it more than once a day, and kind of like "Random", but you don't get extra token from doing it more than once tho.
as others have posted, if you've got mostly ranged - it's a very easy fight. Kill the first add, strafe out of spikes and burn... basically looks like nuke nuke, strafe, nuke nuke, strafe, nuke nuke, strafe etc. collect loots
Once a day for the bag with two frost badges and a possible Scythe drop. You can still farm him for snowballs (lol) or i232 cloaks. The snowballs show up when you get hit by the spike/slap thingy. He drops one cloak per run. Took me about 19 runs to get the 5 cloak upgrades on my paladins.
i've found that the cloak, while nice for what it is, was just a downgrade to the wrathful glad cloak, lol and the wrathful cloak was much easier to get imo :) less farming after all lol
Absolute nightmare on my war tank team. Pally just cleans this place up np.
Idk, I had a seperate player tank it for my shamans, he seemed about as hard as the boss that knocks u in the air in the Nexus. Just have to move off the spikes, and keep dpsing. 1 try.
So I did this on the 3rd try last night, the successful try I just stuck everyone on follow and had them stay with my tank, team was bear, 3 shammies and Disc priest, all about 5kGS so that made it a little easier. First try got him to 25% and wiped, second try was wiped VERY fast no idea why.
A note on the front page video, what resolution is being used for the game? I use 1920 X 1600 on a 25" screen and cannot get the camaera view as far back from my guys as this video shows? Is it running a higher res?
Overall this fight is a fast 2 Frost Badges, cloaks might be cool for my hunters, total downgrade for the team last night though :(
This fight is really nothing new. Pick up some adds, avoid an aoe with a very generous warning (if you don't have strafe and individual movement keys for your group, you should), and nuke a boss. I could see how melee teams might have to throw out a few new tricks, but for holy trinity caster groups it is fairly straightforward. Honestly it's just Anub, but with ice =P
My melée team has the easiest time with this, turn on jamba follow strobe and run around like a retard until the core shows up. I then pop all cooldowns and kill him right as he retreats. My warrior, Mage, lock, shaman, priest team takes two retreats and the tank comes very close to death at the end due to sheer amount of adds on him and the inability of my priests instant heals to keep up with incoming damage. Thanks to this thread I haven't wiped yet!
Now that I got the hang of it I'm downing him every day now :) No scythe or pet though on any of my toons. that's like 15 bags lol.
Really nice the extra Frost badges!
Pretty much the best strategy for me is try and avoid as many spikes as possible- even if you miss a few they won't get too far. It's the continual spiking that starts to get your slaves way off. Popping cooldowns at the right time is also a big plus.
Been bored so I spent an hour or so looking for places to get hung up near Ahune. There's one little structure near the ice stone - if you have a smaller toon they have a roof. Too bad my moonkins are too fat :P
To scroll back farther used this command
/console cameraDistanceMaxFactor 5. 4 or 3 will work too but 5 is the farthest that I know of
Good luck!
It's funny how hard I first thought this fight was and now I 1 shot it every day now :)
Same thing up to like 25 bags now and got 1 Scythe on my paladin :( At least my main got the pet/enchant formula. Just was really hoping to have all my druids with Scythe's because it'd look awesome.
Sorry, I'm missing something -- people are nuking the boss while he's up, or waiting 'til he submerges?
Thought so. I might've misunderstood some other posts.
I've killed him once with warlocks and pally, running around in a pack and DoTting the adds, then firing off triple SoC after every few spikes. My newer warrior/mage/shaman group needs the drops more, but has a lot of trouble with no pally AOE and lower damage overall. I'm going to try throwing the mages and shaman in with the pally tonight and stack frost resistance spells/gear, and see if I can get through it.
Yeah was probably my post that confused you as I was learning the fight. I do throw a little DPS Ahune's way though just to shave a little off. If you blow your cooldowns you should be able to get him down in 2 phases.
The main thing is the big elemental guys that spawn the beginning of every phase. Once they are down you can take your time until the core appears- then it's throw as much DPS on the core as you can. Then get out of there before he emerges.
My team is all casters+pally tank and I just keep them on follow now.too. If they get spiked I spam follow and in phase 2 the little tornados are actually helpful because they can pull in any stray slaves.
