Wow. I have been hemming and hawing about setting up healing with regions. It works so well, I can't believe, lol. Thanks.
The keybinds for interact -> FTL assist is very powerful if you have either a melee group or don't fancy leading with tank. For the first time I can now control my group with any character and not worry about anything.
One question. Is it normal that I get runners occasionally with some of the melee? I automatically press follow to get them back but seems a little odd...
It is something to do with warcraft, and unfortunately a normal occurrence with any boxing software.
If you spam IWT, you can get runners once the target is dead.
A nice effect (while it is alive) is how the melee circle it, which means half of their hits are from behind the target.
If you have multiple melee, the target cannot prevent some from being behind them at all times.
I think it is because the click-to-move's and its path finding. The way I see it. IWT + click to move = a right mouse click on the target's position with click to move turned on. And there are some problems with path finding to that position. So the melees will just run off sometimes.
Awesome guide Ualaa btw. Thanks for the hard work. I finally made the switch from keyclone to ISBoxer. The PipSwitch and in house FTL are just too good.
1 question I had though. I notice my WOW client graphics had degraded a little bit when using InnerSpace. Is it because it is using DirectX9 to render WOW over InnerSpace ? I am on Win7 64bit. When I run it without InnerSpace (same in game settings). The graphics looks a bit sharper and colors are more vivid.
Something to do with windows being rendered the same size. I lost frAme rates when I switched.
How do you turn off keymaps?
IS Boxer renders everything at the size of the large window.
It then scales the smaller windows down.
Because they are rendered at the full size, the PiP swap is instant.
And the mouse broadcastings is very precise.
But your system has to process all five windows, as if they were each maximum size.
A bit more of a strain on resources, although virtual configuration files let you adjust settings on a per toon basis, which can help some.
To disable keymaps, open IS Boxer Toolkit. Click on Control Keymaps on the top. The first keymap on the left is "Activate Maps".
Whatever hotkey is set, will turn them on and off, as this is a two-step macro.
I've got mine changed from the default key to the M3 light key on my G15, along with a light on action when they're enabled and a light off action when they're disabled.
I have a question with ISboxer. If I have 3 computers, 1 account per computer, can I display one character from one computer screen to my main computer screen? Probably not huh? But I can switch controls to make another as the main on the fly yes? I'm just thinking in terms of PVP. Some people know who the master controller of a boxer is by seeing who is leading the pack, kill the leader and the followers will pause for a moment until control is established on a different character. If the main controlling character I'm on is dead, would I have to change keyboards and displays in order to control all my characters, or will I still be able to have full control of another character from the computer I'm still on?
I hope my question made sense. One of the videos I saw showed how a person was able to switch multiple windows of Wow to the foreground, but I'm assuming that was possible because he was running multiple accounts of WoW on one computer.
You won't find software out that sends the game video between computers. Too much info for one thing. Think of it this way; which is faster-> your ethernet or your front side bus
thanks for the guide! Working on making the switch to ISBoxer for my PvP crew - major learning curve but so far so good. You're examples have given me everything I need to get my setup switched over.
Made the switch and used your (Ualaa) refer a boxer thingy. Nothing says thanks like a few free days on IS I guess :D
Love the PiP, Love the inhouse FTL, Love the region stuff and Love the actionsteps in the "not sure what you call them".
Thanks
Thanks for the referral.
There are quite a few resources on www.isboxer.com now, both written guides and video tutorials.
There are a set of forums, dedicated to IS Boxer as well.
And naturally, the IRC (linked from the main page, opens in your browser) is a strong resource for learning how to do whatever you want your configuration to do, especially when you're starting.
Aye, the IRC is powerfull on this one. Lax helped me out with a smallish issue within minutes : ). Im now trying to understand the code that goes in isboxer.iss and the connection to the isboxerui.iss so I can understand what is driving the beast. Thus far I'm very impressed by it : ).
One question, is the region mouserepeater thingy CPU Heavy? Because it felt more laggy when I toggled the region thingy on.
Sounds,...
Can someone share some sound tones i can use with isboxer that are not annoying and unobtrusive? i found a few horn alarms and tones but they all kinda grate on me at one point. i had to remove them. can someone point me in the right direction to find some better wav files? the text prompts are too small to notice in the heat of battle.
Not sure this is the right thread to post.
I have obtain a 7 days trial of IS boxer, I am trying to find out how to let IS point to another wow folder instead of the standard one.
Example: one of the wow folder is in F drive while the original wow folder is in c:/user/.....
@dRiN
Not really sure that it's heavy on the CPU usage. I haven't noticed if it is, but my system is pretty good for warcraft.
@JackBurton
I've not used any sounds with IS Boxer, sorry.
@cookcpu
There isn't really an advantage to multiple folders from a performance point of view. Multiple folders, with symbolic links, gets you different configuration options. However, you can do file virtualization with IS Boxer.
It is really easy. In the top pane, expand virtual files and then click on Config.WTF. Then in the top pane, expand characters and drag them down to the bottom left frame. I virtualize my files as, "Config-ToonName-ServerName.WTF".
If you'd prefer to use your F drive, instead of your C drive, you can change the path. Right click the Inner Space crosshairs, on the task bar. Select Configuration. Go to the Game Configuration tab. Select World of Warcraft from the drop down menu. Then select default profile, from the drop down menu again. Edit the "main executable path" to the F drive folder.
Thanks Ualaa, for the guide. I just bought InnerSpace and used you as a referral.
I'm switching from keyclone and to ISBoxer and having some issues.
First, let me say that I have macros for
1 through =
shift+1 through shift+=
alt+1 through alt+=
ctrl+1 through ctrl+=
So I followed this guide and used the FTL system (I switching to this system).
So far it works and I can quickly switch leaders and all the toons will follow.
However, I can only use 0 through = . I can't seem to use my macros bound to the shift, ctrl, and alt.
So I'm not sure how to fix this. Any advice?
Never mind!
I figured out my issue. I changed the hotkey and the name, but didn't change the output!
Doh! This wasn't obvious to me at first, I'm still learning the IsBoxer ropes so to speak.
Thanks.
Very nice guide Ualaa. I signed up with referring you as well.
Now off to make my custom Clickbar images.
Hmm, I seem to be having trouble with mouse 4 and mouse 5.
On the isde of my mouse, I have two buttons, mouse 4 & 5. I want these clicks to be passed to all clients when I press it.
However, doesn't seem to be working for me.
I added the new buttons to an existing keymap and made sure the input / output were set correctly.
Also, maybe this was mentioned in the guide, but perhaps I didn't see it or maybe I didn't understand.
How I do suspend FTL follow? Sometimes when I do heroics, I don't want the slaves to follow the leader. I want to park them in a spot and have them stay. Is there a FTL toggle button?
Ok, looks like I found my own answer. So I'll leaving this here in case anyone else has the same issue.
A previous thread discussed this topic: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=28621
Also, Jamba strobes the /follow . To toggle it, simply hit shift+alt+f
I'm completely confused, so I'll post here for help:
I cannot, for the life of me, get FTL to work. No matter what I have tried, I wind up in a situation where:
- Character 1 (usually the master) is able to switch to a new follow target when I go from one window to another. No other character can do this - they just all keep on trying to refollow Character 1 even if they are the active window.
- Nobody will target anything that the main window is targeting.
- I'm not sure if I should be turning on the repeater (alt+shift+r) or follow (alt+shift+f) when I load up - if I don't do either, of course nothing gets repeated, so I don't know if that's intended or a sign of my broken FTL attempts.
- I'm able to do stuff if I have focus and assist macros set up manually on the followers, but again - can't do FTL.
Here's what I've tried:
- The video that shows the guy setting it up via the wizard and it just automagically works - he doesn't have to do anything with Jamba that I could see.
- Zanthor's guide - no luck.
- Ualaa's guide (this one) - no luck.
Is there some hidden step that I'm missing? Am I just dumb? Cause, I mean, I've spent hours on this now and I've had absolutely no results figuring this out.
Please help! I'd really like to not have everyone die when my main character gets killed :)
I'm no expert as I had just started 2 days ago but I'd pay it forward as Ualaa and Lax have helped me quite a bit already.
I'd start checking keybinds in-game first. This happened to me, though with just 1 character to another. Found out that ctrl+F11 (which is the key passed to the character/window to follow a specific toon) is keybound. Ack! So when i cleared that, the character started following/assisting the other toon. Check isboxer's modifiers + key for FTL and make sure they're not bound in-game.
For 99% of your play, you'll want Keymaps On and Repeater Off.
This gets you mapped keys (hotkeys) do what you have them configured to do, but general broadcasting is off.
For passwords, reverse that (Keymaps Off, Repeater On).
For /dance or /use Item Name, Keymaps Off, Repeater On.
For chatting, both off.
For clicking something such as Accept (to be bound somewhere) or on a Portal, leave Keymaps On, but turn on Repeater too, and then disable Repeater after the click has been done.
For FTL to work, you need each toon to have a unique FTL modifier combo.
The wizard gets you a working version.
I don't believe a given toon can use both left and right versions of the same modifier as their FTL modifier combo.
You need 'Use FTL Modifiers' set to "On", for these three Mapped Keys:
- FTL Target Me
- FTL Assist Me
- FTL Follow Me
And for this setting to be left on "Default" everywhere else.
These three FTL Mapped Keys send a key to the game, but add the modifiers you picked.
So for example the default key for FTL Follow Me is F11.
Sure the hotkey is Alt + Shift + F, but that is not what is sent to the game (warcraft).
If you go to the General Keymap, and navigate down to the three FTL Mapped Keys, expand them and click the "1" under Steps, and check the action... There will be a "key combination".
The Key Combination is what is sent to the game, you want a key here without modifiers... I've changed mine from the defaults, but what the key is doesn't matter.
Whatever key is here (F11 for Follow, for example), cannot be bound in game with any of the modifiers used by your team for the FTL stuff.
So you won't want Shift F11, Ctrl F11, Alt F11, Shift + Ctrl + F11 etc bound in warcraft.
Ditto for the other two FTL Mapped Keys.
Not sure which Follow option you chose with the wizard, or even if you chose one.
If you expand your character sets, and click on the name of your team (character set).
Then under "Slots" click on the 1, 2, 3 etc...
Under "Hotkey to switch to this character" is an option (When I switch to this character), which should be checked.
Do this Mapped Key.
Try changing that to: Control Keymap & JambaMaster Mapped Key.
That will update the Master of the team, on a switch, but not do any of the follow options.
Meaning you will need to manually do the follow hotkey to switch follow.
Once you have follow working (via hotkey) with any toon leading...
You might want to change the Mapped Key on a switch to: 'Follow/JambaMaster' or leave it on manual.
I have just the leader update for melee teams, and the normal follow for caster teams.
I personally don't use Strobe follow, but that is the other option to go with.
Inside of the IS Boxer Toolkit (in the File Menu) is an option to copy your profile to clip board.
Ensure the block account name option is checked.
Go to www.pastebin.com and paste your profile there.
Then include the URL to your configuration in a post.
That way, people can look at exactly what you have.
Lax is the best person for deciphering what you did and how to correct it.
He checks the www.isboxer.com forums more then these ones.
The IRC from the isboxer site is the best place for quick assistance; just hang around a little bit, as people usually have the window open and check back periodically.
Aha! I *think* I have figured out what's going on, and will post the fix here for everyone:
1) My keybinds were bad - I had F1-F12 bound to various things, backspace as well, etc. So I reset them all to the default. This didn't fix anything, but now I don't have to worry.
2) I was using different client folders because my old way of doing it wouldn't let me do virtual configs. I think when I installed IS/ISBoxer it only installed in my main folder, not the slave folder. Oops :o I set up virtual WTFs and they all are based on the master install now. Dumb Kate is dumb - I didn't realize that it put anything into the wow folder so it never occurred to me to make sure it was installed on all clients.
I only had a minute or two to test it out, BUT it seems to work at least for switching and having follow. I don't know if it will target & assist automatically as I didn't have a chance to get in combat, but at least everyone follows properly!
Thanks for the help :)
The other thing to verify...
Check each of the accounts, specifically the addons enabled (at character select screen), to ensure the IS Boxer addon is enabled.
It completely works now - I've been happily slaughtering stuff and getting a bunch of other FTL keybinds in place.
Woo!
is there anyway to unbind the ~ key in ISboxer? It opens the consol now.. i would like to rebind that to somthing else
So... finally trying to get ISBoxer running (and of course used your name in the referral section, Ualaa).
It looks like a fairly straightforward piece of software to set up, once you take a few hours to familiarize yourself with the terms used and things.
I have a couple of questions:
1) I'm trying to set the software up to run on two machines. Downloaded ISBoxer and InnerSpace on both, followed the Multiple PC guide, recognized the other computer as it should have, successfully copied all my settings from my main computer to the 2nd one, set up a team for each computer and included the 2nd computer's team in the "Also launch" section of the first team, selected the correct computer from the drop-down on team 2's "what computer to launch on" area. Again, copied all settings over successfully. However, when I launch team one, it brings up those 5 windows on my main computer normally, but nothing happens on computer 2.
One thing I thought was intersting was that when I went into Window Layouts and my 2nd team's Regions, the right bottom drop-down where you change from <pre-defined computer> would never keep the setting when I changed it to computer 2's screen from the drop down. It always goes back to <pre-defined computer>. Not sure if that is related to the problem, but it might be.
2) This one is far less important, but the slave windows look like ass. It appears they are being emmulated by ISBoxer and so they are very fuzzy and text is impossible to read. Once in a blue moon I had this problem with Keyclone where one window would look crappy and I'd have to reload it, but all slave windows have always been ugly with ISBoxer. I'm using the same exact region placements and sizes with ISBoxer as with Keyclone. When I make any of my slaves the Hot Region, they come to the main window area looking very crisp as they should, but all windows in the slave areas aren't crisp at all.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mercurio
i get 2) regularly, i basically click the icon on the taskbar to minimise and reclick and they readjust ok. Either that or you could close that window down and then reload the character set, which apparently only loads the windows that are not loaded (not tested personally)
not sure on 1)
1. You came into the chat room but i'm not clear on whether you got what I said or not:
[14:56] <Lax> Mercurio: on both PCs, right click IS and select Console
[14:59] <Lax> Mercurio: during the launch process, the Console in the uplink window on the two PCs details what theyre trying to do
[14:59] <Lax> Mercurio: so on the main PC you should see it try to connect to the second PC (and output on the second PC if it connects)
[15:00] <Lax> Mercurio: if it connects but nothing happens after that on the second PC, then the problem may be that the Uplink Name in ISBoxer for the second does not match the actual name in the IS Configuration window on that PC
[15:01] <Lax> if you see ISBoxer try to start launching a character set on the second PC after the connection, then the problem would be indicated in the console on the second PC
1.5. your window layout stores the screens, pre-defining that part of the Computer inside the layout. So the next time you open it, it'll always say pre-defined
2. see http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=30046
Lax,
After rebooting my slave computer and starting ISBoxer up, Windows Firewall popped up and asked if I wanted to block ISBoxer. After selecting No ISBoxer seems to launch both computer's accounts just fine.
I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road, but for now, thanks for the help!
More problems. :(
InnerSpace is really flakey. It comes up with an error and closes itself about half the times I try to open up my 10 accounts. It would typically open up 1-2 windows each time I tried to start a team, then die, then open up 1-2 more, then die, but I could usually get it to eventually open them all up if I kept restarting InnerSpace, though sometimes I had to reboot for InnerSpace to do anything at all. (BTW, I sent on my error messages that are auto-generated each time, hope that helps you).
I say "would" above, because that's when it was still detecting my other computer. Now I'm seeing an all-time low in terms of connection because I don't even have the option to "Export all to <All Computers>" when I right-click on Computers. For the first time, it isn't recognizing the other computer at all (not like my previous problem when it just wouldn't recognize it when starting up teams). I quadruple-checked my Windows Firewall options, the IS Config saying allow the connection, the IP address listed in ISBoxer for the other computer, etc. It is really odd because I didn't change any of these settings from when it was seeing the other computer to when it stopped.
I figured InnerSpace was pretty borked up in general, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it on one computer. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem. Also, all of my hard-earned Key Maps and other settings that I have created are gone on that computer. This wouldn't be a big deal except that I can't copy them from the other computer since it can't see it. I would like to try uninstalling and reinstalling IS on my other computer too, but that would eliminate all my settings entirely and I'm not keen to start over from scratch.
Any suggestions?
You can copy the Profile to clip board, and use Pastebin.com to host them.
Then you can open that, from the other computer.
You'll need to be able to see extensions, and rename the .txt to .xml
At which point, the other computer can open the profile.
Not the most elegant method to transfer mapped keys, but it will work.
You'd need to be sure to rename the 2nd computer to whatever its supposed to be, as they need to be different computers in the profile.
I've never run two systems, so am not sure what your issue is.
Are 5 accounts stable on both systems?
As in only five, on one or only five on the other?
It should be stable, with a five box on one system.
If you get that, then its just a matter of getting the two profiles to launch together and interact.
Thanks for this guide. I just changed over to this program last night and although it was a bit of work learning how to use it, your guide certainly made things easier. Much appreciated.
This is by far helped me the most out of all the guides i have read, i still have learning to do, and just playing around and getting my hands dirty. But thank you for helping me understand how some of the functios work
Hi I am new here and not real sure how all this works yet but i was wondering about the
My question is seeing as how we created a melee group above wouldn't it be better to do it using that group as the selected one to turn it on for only as apposed to anyone who is not main window that way you could have ranged and melee in same team and that would only make it ctm on on the melee ones?Quote:
Example K - Click to Move (on Slaves only)
For those of us who want to have CTM enabled on the slaves, to facilitate having the slaves move closer to quest NPC's or Flight Masters automatically, but who do not like having it enabled on the active toon.
Create two Keymaps, in General Keymaps.
Keymap 1, "CTM Off".
Hotkey: Alt + Ctrl + ,
New Macro Action.
Target: Window (Current)
Key Combination: Control + Alt + ,
Display As (in Step): Checked; "Ctrl + Alt + Comma (CTM Off)"
In macro generator: /console AutoInteract 0
Keymap 2, "CTM On".
Hotkey: Alt + Ctrl + .
New Macro Action.
Target: Window (All w/o Current)
Key Combination: Control + Alt + .
Display As (in Step): Checked; "Ctrl + Alt + Period (CTM On)"
In macro generator: /console AutoInteract 1
Then modified the Follow/JambaMaster Keymap (Control Keymaps)
Added (twice) - Key Map Actions >> Do Mapped Key Action.
a) Window: Current, General, CTM Off.
b) Window: Current, General, CTM on.
Apply these two modifications to the Keymap which runs automatically on PiP switch.
ie on the target for
Keymap 2, "CTM On".
make it
Target: Group (others in):Melee
instead of
Target: Window (All w/o Current)
or am i wrong and missing something here?
You would still leave the ctm off the same as it is though right?
If this is how it works then could have ranged melee mixed or is that done another way?
Thanks in advance
