Check your PM. :)
I have tried this program now, and it's a total dream come true compared to Clonekeys. I bought it without hesitation. I hope very much that you will continue to support it and that Mac users become aware of it. My Mac Pro is an absolute beast, and it was so depressing in the past having it be less ideal for boxing just because of software. No offense to the Clonekeys authors is meant.
Glad you like it! Let me know if you run into any issues running lots of WoW instances on your Mac Pro... I only have a MacBook Pro (1st gen) and a MacBook to test it out on.
I'll be trying this on a 24" iMac tonight, I'll let you know how it goes.
It would be awesome if you could add in click regions or whatever. Click somewhere and have it hit a key on one of the clones. Would be nice to do that for the healing that some of the windows apps have. So far loving it though. And its yet to get delayed like clonekeys did if you spam the keyboard.
I paid for a copy tonight, this app solved my huge lag issues. Thank you! ClonedKeys, in the trash!
@antishadow - I don't currently have any plans to add mouse click regions. If interest is high enough, I may take a gander at it.
I have now played extensively with Plexer and found that it does once and for all solve the problems with boxing on a Mac. I played against bosses where I SPAMMED the hell out of my keys to ensure that all my toons kept casting, and then any time I needed to move or jump or anything, it did just that. It kept up with my key presses. Like most broadcasting, when you spam too much some presses get lost here and there for whatever reason, but it doesn't LAG. If a key press is lost it's not because the program couldn't do it. I know that Plexer doesn't have all the features of other programs, but it's so simple to use that I almost prefer it. I do use Keyclone on my PC when I 10 box and need 2 computers but I have fewer issues with Plexer right now.
Bless you Owensd!
I finally got 10.6 on my machine and grabbed Plexer (paid). It is Fantastic. I've gotten so used to playing with keystroke lag that I need to now learn to play with you it.
I have had one issue. Sometimes it does not broadcast to all WoWs when I get started. (it does not cut out while playing) I need to then remove the WoWs and re-add them. This clears it up but it's a little annoying.
THANK YOU and keep up the great work.
Is there a difference between the trial and paid versions? I certainly will buy this regardless. Clonekeys, while it did serve me ok, has too many problems with missed keystrokes. I am looking forward to this very much
The trial version expires after 15 days, the full version doesn't. ;) That's about it.
Hello everyone :)
I'm totally new to Multi-boxing. Just today I've collected my 3 accounts, and am planning on lvling to DK's in multibox mode, so that they can later join my existing 80 DK main.
I've read a lot of beginners stuff on this site, but sadly most of the wiki links doesn't seem to work for me. That is why I am resorting to this topic, since I am working on a Mac Pro (quad core, GTX285).
So! I have installed Plexer and updated it. I have also turned on this:
http://img.skitch.com/20091101-rgyww...mf5qtswwkp.jpg
So far so good I guess :)
After that, I started to link 2 different configurations to my WoW 1 and WoW 2.
http://img.skitch.com/20091101-kg5ba...35a8j2pqci.jpg
I also did the same with WoW 2:
http://img.skitch.com/20091101-jstk2...78jmjur4mg.jpg
I guess thats all good.
But now my trouble begins to start. I guess that's because of my lack of understanding this program (no offence intended to the creator, who obviously did a great job, the problem lies with my inability to understand things like this :) )
I cannot understand how the "Whitelist" and "Blacklist" seems to work. I could not find a guide or text about this on the forum, so ill ask it here :).
What I think the White and Blacklist seem to do is: The blacklist makes sure which keys the program needs to ignore for the rest of the slaves. These are only inteded for the master (like typing in guild chat).
And I think with the whitelist you can set keys to WoW that covers the slave's and the master.
Again, I am not sure about this, this is me speculating.
Ofcourse I have tried to test this out with my 2 accounts running, but it does not seem to work. I made sure when doing this to turn Broadcasting on.

Well, im pretty sure I am thinking the wrong way about this whole program. So my question basicly is, how does this program work? And mainly about how to connect the different wow accounts together so that they, my slaves, for example, strafe left while I am pushing that keybiding or macro on my Master.
Also I would like to see some examples you guys used in your Whitelist or Blacklist, I think that could get me started greatly.
I think if I get that to work, that ill be able to figure out the rest by just reading a lot of posts here with great addons and macro's and the like
I hope I've been clear in my question and did not ask the "noob" question.
Really would like to get this to work before the trial ends :o
Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
I've played some more with the Whitelist and Blacklist, and it seems that when I select and add keystrokes to a whitelist, it will also be automaticly on the Blacklist. Also, when I create a key on a blacklist, go to whitelist, and remove it from there, it will also be removed from the blacklist.
If my above reasoning was correct, then a "bug" like this might make it logical that I cant broadcast between WoW chars. Because if something is on the white and blacklist, it would just let it do nothing I asume.
A configuration is for a group of applications. So you need to add all three instances of WoW that you want to play in the Applications list (i.e. WoW 1, WoW 2, and WoW 3).
Keys will be broadcast to ONLY the applications in the list. Basically, you are using the configurations incorrectly. It's more for the setup of you have a two-team group that you want to use, so you make "My Two's Group". And then you have a five-team group and you make a config "My Five's Group".
Whitelist sends ONLY those keys to the other instances of the application.
Blackist sends all keys EXCEPT the keys listed to the other apps.
Note that 'k' and 'K' ARE different keys.
Hi, im running on a MacBook Pro and as a mac user yourself you'll know that all the F keys are used, so my question is, can i set the toggle broadcasting key to a different key other that the F keys?
Thanks

Will plexer support clickthroughs? I dualbox in windows using Octopus, and a huge feature is being able to assign (for instance) shift click to go through to the background copy of WoW.
I don't have any plans currently to implement that feature.
Just got back into Mboxing on my mac and was happy to find Plexer. Please enjoy my $25.
A few comments and feature requests. (sorry if these have been discussed previously)
- Ability to add escape key to whitelist/blacklist keys
- Growl notifications when broadcasting is enabled and disabled.
- Button that would launch all programs currently under the plexer profile selected.
A much more beefy request is something that handled window resizing and layout. I'm not sure if the toold exist in the mac dev environment but this is one feature I'm wishing I had available in to me under mac tools.
Thanks for making this. It works great and I really hope you continue to develop it.
I've come across some issues with the program, although it's still amazing and these issues are easy to work with.
I consistently see, after a long period of use, Plexer start sending some windows duplicate keystrokes. So I type in for everyone to do "/use hearthstone", and one of them will do "///uuussseee hhheeeaaarrrttthhhssstttooonnnee" instead. I close the program and reopen it. I'm just concerned that this will look like something illegal if someone from Blizzard ever saw it, besides the minor annoyance of restarting the program. It's not that big of a deal for actual playing at least.
@lacitpo
I'll look into adding #1 and #2. #3 might take more work than I want to put into it right now... the problem there is I'd want to have it position the windows correctly too and I'm not sure I want to invest the UI time for that at the moment.
@theBigBB... that's really strange. If you toggle plexing on/off does that fix the issue? Do you toggle plexing on/off frequently? I'm just trying to think what could go wrong in the code for that situation to occur... I'll play around with it and see if I can't come up with a way to prevent that from happening. Can't say I've seen it myself though.
Thanks everyone!
I've seen the multiple keypresses thing too - however it only seems to happen with me after client crashes and fairly rarely at that.
RE: Crash Problem
I experienced something that might be related. I had one of my wow clients crash, and then try to crash again last night after playing for a while. Restarting plexer fixed this problem. If I can find a way to reliably reproduce this problem i'll report back
RE: escape key
It's addable, but you have to move your focus to the game window. If you have plexer selected and you try to add space bar, or escape to whitelist or blacklist, it cancels the key add dialogue. This is a bit confusing and maybe could be fixed by requiring that the 'done' button be clicked rather than allowing key presses to end the key adding dialogue box.
OK... Plexer might be getting duplicate windows in the app list when you restart WoW after the crash. I might be able to fix that fairly easily.
Yeah, as soon as you told me the escape key doesn't work I knew what the problem was. I'll try and push a fix our this weekend.
Version 1.0.4 is out! :)
Fixed the issue with the escape key.
Fixed the issue with the space key (just a rendering problem, the key should have been there).
Potential fix for the crash issue.
Love the active development. Thanks for the update and bug fixes.
I'm looking at making a bigger version update. This is what I have for items that people want:
- Networking
- Start up applications, size, and position windows
- Growl support
- More customization for keys instead of just the drop-down
I'll be taking new feature requests under consideration. So if you have any, let me know. :)
Just want to pitch in and say that Plexer is awesome! Could finally move to my Mac for boxing! Looking forward for the "start up applications, size and position" part though - it's the only thing I've been missing so far.
Cheers!
I've had the multiple keystrokes pop up too - a restart will clear it up.
I've been using it a while, it crashed once, but ever since, it's been rock solid.
The two features I want, would be PiP like Keyclone, and mouse targeting, so I can use AOE on my slaves.
Other than that, it's perfect.
Has anyone tried Plexer with more than 2 instances of WoW?
Currently I am trying to run 4 instances with not much luck. Basically from what I have seen, windows 1 and 2 on the list ALWAYS get the keys passed to them. And 3 and 4 only work if they're the currently active window.
I have 2 Folders. First one for the master, and second one with 3 duplicates of WoW for the slaves.
I don't think it's the method of using the "Enable Assistance Devices" or whatever because CloneKeys passes to all 4 clients just fine. And I don't think it's my computer. It's plenty fine running 4 instances.
Any one else experiencing this?
Makes sense. Though from reading that reply in the thread I figured it wasn't the reason.
Don't know if I will purchase it. To be honest, the translucent black UI is a big turn off for me. And the always on top also. Is there any plans on making a standard UI for it, instead of the current one? Might have to play around with it just Dual Boxing to see how I like.
Thanks for Bringing some love to the Mac side of Boxing though. Needs it. Like one of the previous posters mentioned, would love to see a Mac maximizer.
Keep up the work!!
To each his own. :) The black UI is somewhat standard, but I get what you're saying.
You can close the window and Plexer will still be in the background for your needs, but I can look into making the 'always on top' an option instead of forcing it.
I do have some plans on redoing some of the UI in a future version, though I don't really know the timeline when that will be done (definitely won't be in the short term).
Are there other reasons why you don't think you'll purchase it? I guess I should up the limit to three instead of two clients. I do know that I need to work on the website for it and get some getting started guides up there.
Thanks for the input,
David
Features: WTB maximizer, click broadcasting! Kthxbye <3
Comments on planned features
1) Interested.
I'll soon be sharing 5 instances between an imac and my macbook pro and an all in one solution would be ideal.2) Very interested.
Window Sizing and positioning and hopefully quick swapping would be my #1 request. I'd pay another $25 for it. Start up is a convenience and would be a nice addition. Any possibility to input password for you?
3) Would be Nice
Just another flourish that would help polish the software.
4) Clarify please
Are you talking about the ability to configure Plexer so that when I press '1' on my main client, it passes 'CTRL+1' on my secondary client and 'CTRL+SHIFT+1' on my 3rd client......
This is a feature I haven't used in multiboxing before because it hasn't been easily available to me. I think it would open up some options to mac boxers that weren't previously available.
New Feature Requests
A: Confirmation dialog when deleting a boxing profile. Possibly a check box in the dialog to allow people to bypass having to confirm.
B: Indicator in the Menu Bar icon whether or not plexer is active or not. Currently icon doesn't change when you activate/deactivate
Thanks again for creating this for the community. I'll be sure to plug it often in my mboxing blog.
For #4 I meant that you could add other keys besides F1-F19 to quit Plexer, for example. I don't really think that the press '1' and change that keystroke to 'CTRL+1' is allowed - yes, I know other programs do it, but to me that is not "one key press equally one key press".
The icon in the menu bar changes from black to blue; I think it's too subtle though.
I may just have not been able to find it, but is there an easy to view changelog either within plexer or on the plexer web site?
Since I never used it, I won't miss #4 it not being added. I tend to stay away from interpreting UELA stuff so if that's your interpretation, fine by me. :)
You can find the release notes here: http://www.kiadsoftware.com/apps/ple...ase-notes.html. Sorry, I don't have a good link on the website. :(
