I can assure you this is totally false, as I just did this last night with a prot warrior and destro lock + 3 shamans.Quote:

I officially can NOT get this trick with Herald to work.
I've tried everything (wiped about 6 times now trying it). I can get him down to way less than 35% before the first insanity, and then he starts casting number two and all 5 of my guys can see him, but he is 100% untargettable, and then of course I wipe immediately as I'm fighting 8 shamans and 2 DKs x 5.
Not sure what the trick is. I even tried adding /target Herald to all of my macros so that my shamans will keep trying to attack him, nothing seems to work.
Edit: I was also doing retarded amounts of DPS - when the second insanity started the DPS on my shamans was over 5000.
I'm having the same problem to be honest. :pQuote:

My fastest kill by doing both insanities normally is 2 minute 4 seconds now tho, so the achievement will be done soon enough the normal way. :p
I went and did this achievement on my main toon last night with some guild friends.
Group Comp: Ele Shaman (this is probably impossible without heroism), Magex2, Moonkin, Ret Paladin.
Strategy: Pop heroism b4 pull, Ret pally runs in and aggros, Lay on Hands after first hit or 2, Bubble + Taunt, collect achievement.
Total group DPS on final boss: 25.2K
This guy died so fast it was insane. 2X arcane mages just spamming one spell + mirror image + icy veins + heroism + arcane power = OP, they did 9K DPS and 7.9K DPS
He still got his first insanity off on us but it was glitchy and he was already dead before it cast. We had to kill our clones and zone out to be able to see eachother again and the mages died to their clones due to beeing OOM after the 12 second fight.
I would either bring 5x DPS or work on being able to kill the clones within the time limit.
Well, I will have this x5 once I get the stupid water boss in H VH ( been looking for him for over 2 weeks now ), but I have all the other achievements complete now. Finally got Make it Count today, did a practice run in normal before trying it on heroic which helped me kind of get warmed up. Took 4 trys to finally get it right, its really surprising how easy occulus really is once you setup those stupid macro's. One thing I stumbled upon while setting this up that I think is a big improvement in my setup overall is this ...
For a follow FTL setup I am now just binding 4 seperate macros to direct follow keys, for example:
ToonA Follow key is bound to Alt Shift [ accross all chars the macro is simple
/follow toona
more over you can add alts in below the main char, so if you have another setup of chars you use sometimes mixed in with your main setup, just add addition follow commands blow the original
ToonB Follow key is bound to Ctrl Alt [ accross all chars
/follow toonb
So you end up with 4 Keys total ( theres 5 keys really but the char your following obviously doesnt need a key to follow himself so you can save some space ) and the advantage of this is no retargeting junk everytime you hit follow. Which was insanely annoying if say you have a healer healing your Main you hit follow and suddenly your healer loses the main's target because that crafty /targetlasttarget command in everyones follow macros causes him to target his last target which wasnt the main char because he was already on him. Moreover I was able to simply add in /cast sock lance ect ect ect commands into my already existing FTL macros just had to make sure that command was above my normal /cast commands or it did not work. You can EVEN add in multiple drake actions ... like /dream funnel /searing wrath .. all into the same key and it will still w ork perfectly depending on what darke you ride, or dont ride .. so I just leave that stuff in my keys at all times now. I'll post an example real fast because too
/assist [nomod:ctrl,mod:shift,mod:alt]sanza;[mod:ctrl,nomod:alt,mod:shift]sanzb;[mod:alt,mod:shift,mod:ctrl]sanzc;[mod:ctrl,mod:alt,nomod:shift]sanzd;[mod:ctrl,nomod:alt,nomod:shift]oxan;
/assist [nomod:ctrl,mod:shift,mod:alt]oxaz;[mod:ctrl,nomod:alt,mod:shift]oxay;[mod:alt,mod:shift,mod:ctrl]oxax;[mod:ctrl,mod:alt,nomod:shift]oxaw;[mod:ctrl,nomod:alt,nomod:shift]onez;
/cast flame spike
/cast shock lance
/cast leeching poison
/cast searing wrath
/cast [harm] lightning bolt
This is my main dps key the 2nd assist command is for my other team of shamans ... so I can just save it in macaroon and load it directly to them should I ever play them in occulus =) very time saving. When I'm not on the drakes my lightning bolt still works perfectly, no error spam either. So this same design can be carried into any vehicle in the game ( think uldaur ) and it gives you a seemless transition from pewpew elemental shaman to boomboom tank/drake whatever ...
Finally!!! Got the water boss in VH tonight and I achieved 5 glory of the hero's so that's 4 shamans, 1 prot paladin completed Glory of the Hero ... I suppose I'll have to get an SS of all 5 of my red proto's but I'm going to go show them off in Dalaran first =D
congrats!
Still working on finishing this one up - haven't completed Occulus yet, so obviously missing those.
HoS Brann event and Gundrak Les-Rabi are proving to be somewhat aggravating (reset Moorabi for close to an hour over the weekend and kept missing the last interupt... sigh), aside from that I've had pretty good luck just working through the list.
Thanks for all the comments folks!
Managed to get Less-rabi out of the way last night - took a good 3 nights and many deaths (resetting him). Finally settled on a slightly staggered shock rotation, with 3/5 reverb talented. saved bloodlust till he hit 50% and the transforms start coming at every 5 sec. Trick for me was getting the interface stopwatch out and timing the transforms that way (they come at 10sec intervals until he hits 50% health, then they come every 5 secs). I wasn't running my paladin for this, friend had his on and caught the transform right before moorabi hit 50% which I was consistently missing.
macro setup was simple -
Normal roundrobin shock macro (no hardware/software roundrobbin - jsut commas); pretty much spammed it 2-3 times for each interupt but tried to keep one available.
Took flameshock out of my normal rotation so I wouldn't accidantly hit it.
My biggest problem with this achievement is that when I'm ready to use one of my round robin shocks, all 4 of my shamans are still on the global cooldown *sigh*. I only ever miss that last .5s cast - I would have gotten it once but apparently the DK strangulate ability does NOT prevent the cast or interrupt it.
Yeah - prior to getting the achievement we killed him once or twice on accident as he did the very last (3rd) transform after hitting 50%.
For GCD issue (which is what got me most often) - that's where the stopwatch came in handy so i could stop casts 1 sec or so before each interrupt.
I found other achievements harder than less-rabi - but I did cheat and respec a shaman just for the 1 second reduction on wind shock to keep up with his recast, which made it pretty easy. Occulus ones are pretty easy, with the exception of Make It Count.
Brann event and Make it Count are looking to be my main roadblocks at this point - did Herald V last night and finished the fight at 2:03 X(
Brann event isn't bad at all, once I learned to stop trying to kill stuff on phase 3. Just go for survival, hold the mobs, and wait for the defenses to kill them all.Quote:

so when can we get a melee boxers view on the tips and tricks lol, i'm finding it VERY difficult to finish off many heroics/acheivements as a melee boxer haha... perhaps its my lackluster dps :(
Ok, need some strategies for getting the Emerald Void and Ruby Void. I was just able to kill eregos using 1 red and 4 green. I tried the 5 Amber strategy but keep dying, guess i'm doing something wrong.
Edit: Has deminishing returns for Time Stop always been there? I keep getting different answers from people.
I imagine you know how the rotation works but just incase you dont, you can do it with 1 or 2 buttons dependong what passing program you use. Anyways you want 1 button press to cause 2 drakes to shock lance, 3 drakes to temporal rift, and the 2nd button press to flip that .. so 2 temportal rift 3 shock lance. It's all about the timing, usually the first volley doesnt cause any debuffs due to server lag, but you just watch his debuff's and wait until you see your dmg boost debuff on him and make sure your wait until it stacks as well. The 2nd thing that is highly important is keeping him stunned all the time, I do mean all the time. If you do your dps rotation right this is possible. Again you have to watch his debuff's because timestop causes a 10 sec debuff on the boss ( goes down with DR so the 2nd one is like 6, third one is like 3 ) but as soon as you see time stop is wearing off, hit another one ... keep him perma stunned. By the time you go through 3 stun's you should have knocked off so much hp that he is going to phase out and you simply do a 180 and run away. During the phase shift you want to pan around and watch the little arcane dudes, the 2nd they blow up do another 180 and get back in range of Eregos as fast as possible and lay another stun on him and its pretty much rinse and repeat.
This is how I always do this fight except when I had to get amber void and frankly, its a lot easier once you get it down this way. Also this is how I did it for "Make it Count".
Biggest things are
1) perfect that dps rotation, make sure your debuffs are stacking before you toss another volley ( except the first volley due to lag )
2) keep him perma stunned, watch the stun debuffs
3) get back in range of him asap after a phase shift
Can we get this sticky'd ?
Seriously!
For me, I need some help: The first boss in OK I cannot get that achievement. I tried dropping two earth elementals and going to town on the boss in another room. Soon as the adds spawn he goes immune so I figure Im not far enough away, can someone describe where I should tank him at? I'm best with pictures =)
edit: also another one thats a problem is Intense Cold. I cant cleanse all 5 of use before it stacks to 3 on the debuff. What I am wondering is: Since this is an individual achievement (one person can get it while rest of group fails to stop stack): Can I just leave one of my shaman outside of the area where you fight her and avoid the AE for the achievement? That way it will just take 5 days of rotating everyone (obviously tank has to stay and cleanse himself) Anyone know for sure? Watch I bet the AE is zone wide. /cry
There are lots of stairs in this zone and there are two ways to get to this boss. I have been pulling the boss to the stairs on the right pathway (the stairs leading down into the area before his room) and he still goes immune with 2 elementals occupying the guardians. Does a shaman have to sit with the elementals for some reason?
I think we are speaking about the same stairs. I've tanked him in the corner to the right side (facing down the stairs) of the foot of those stairs, right at that lil corner. My wife grabbed the adds right at the doorway to his chamber. Worked first try, so I didn't really bother with this anymore. Maybe you need a bit more distance between your tank and add positioning.
The boss hits like a girl (afaik your tank is sitting at 35k+ unbuffed health too), so am sure you can move him around a bit while in combat.
It kinda looked like this:
Code:X Boss spawn spot
X Doorway (grab adds here)
X Boss fight spot
X Stairs
So leaving just earth elementals there will not stop immunity?
As long as your elementals grab all guardians, the boss shouldn't get the immunity. But well, as soon as the earth elemental starts to fight, its very likely other adds are able to rush past the doorway. That's why I've placed my wife (resto shaman) at the door, to grab all guardians.
The fight didn't last very long, so everything worked as planned for us.
The immunity is an aura the guardians have, which range is rather large. The elementals would be fine to use provided that you place them far enough away. The way I accomplished this achievment was a Lil different than most, there's a platform area outside just passed this bosses room that seems like a rather long run with 3 to4 trash pulls. What I did was to kill the trash then park all 4 ret pallys in the farthest little nook on this area right in front of the steps then go pull the boss to this spot. If all your toons can muster a solid 3.8 k burst dps and I assume you're usin shamans so its possible just to burst the boss before the add gets in range. This takes a little bit of luck as if the guardian spawns on the close side of the room you won't have enough time but it only took me 2 or 3 tries to do it and my pallies don't have sheer burn like shams do hehe. Good luck!
***the boss summons the guardian at 50 percent hps so save your burst burst for right at 50 and the blow him up *** :)
