I think I answered my own question about focus, but let me run this by you guys...



I can only set a focus through the use of a macro. Once I choose a "focus", I can click on or /assist to acquire a target, and my "focus" will not change. Then, I can for example focus on my main, and target a mob, and through the use of a "focus" macro, heal my main, while using another macro to attack my target.

Do I have it right?



If so, then how would I set focus on something without being able to name it in a macro in advance? The mage example comes to mind, and sheeping... obviously I want to all the toons to concentrate their fire on one target, but how would I set focus on another mob to keep it sheeped? (assume only 2 mages at this point)

Think of focus and place holder. You can use the focus command like and other "/" command, you don't need a macro.

Focus is useful in a macro as a reference point. On my raiding priest, the MT is always my target, the focus is my OT or shackle target. One button heals, the other button chains them down without clicking off of the main tank.

if you are ready for level-2 macros... those using focus for the first time... then try something like this:

each wow would have these macros (pick your own keys):
f1: /focus joe
f2: /focus sam
f3: /focus bob

when joe dies, hit f2 and sam becomes the new 'main'. which is useful as your powers are defined like this:

1: /startattack [target=focustarget]
2. /cast [target=focustarget] fireball
-: /assist focus
=: /follow focus

you only need to set your focus once until that character dies... or your main comes back...

if you want to get tricky... and you're using keyclone's maximizer... set your PiP hotkey to match the /focus keys
if you do it right, hitting a single key, ie: f2, sam will swap with joe... and sam will become focus

I should really get around to doing that myself. My focus/follow macro takes care of the failover in one button but I don't have PiP setup with it.
