Edited part: Then again, I admit I dont know as much as others as I just got into OCing so... my opinion should be taken as just that.

For the 100$ price difference I don't see enough performance for the price.
With the i7 2600k I think I'll be happy with the i5 16 gigs of ram.
The asus sabertooth mb ATI toxic 6950 120 gig ssd and 80 gig SD.
Then a 1tb hdd I just want to run a 5 man team soon.
And to see if ill enjoy it If I can get the hang of it.

Now, all that said.

I think I want your board. The reviews for it are all 5 star, for high performance users.

FWIW, I went from a 2500k to a 2600K and it made a BIG difference. (stock speeds on both)
But then again, I 5-box at 2560x1600.
Maybe it makes a bigger difference at higher resolutions.
With the 2500K, I was pegging all 4 cores and it would get choppy in Stormwind and 40 man BGs at times.
With the 2600K, I'm at about 50-60% on all 8 "cores" and it never gets choppy anywhere.
Was definitely worth the extra $100 for me.

Other relevant specs:
8GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 580
64GB SSD for WoW.

I play a whole lot after work and weekends.
Prob close to 6 hrs a night and mostball day sat an Sundays.
I may not. Run all 5 at that times.
Will the 2600k handle it?

I initially upgraded (current system) to an i5 2500K.
And overclocked that on air (Corsair A70) to 4.5 Ghz.

The system wasn't totally smooth, but was very playable even in large scale BG's.
This is with a lot of addons, playing on a pair of 27" (720x1080 resolution) monitors, Firefox with 10-15 tabs open, iTunes playing, etc..

Once I started to stream, using XSplit Player...
I noticeably had choppiness in 40-man Battlegrounds.

Upgrading to an i7 2600K (no other changes to the system)...
With Xsplit going, at stock speed the i7 was smoother than the overclocked i5 2500K was without XSplit.
Everything else what the same.
Using the exact same settings, the i7 is stable at 4.5 Ghz too.
1.34 volts, if it matters.

For a hundred bucks extra, the i7 is a lot stronger than the i5.
The i5 likely will work fine, but the i7 will give you room to stream or run additional accounts down the road, or to play more computer challenging games down the road.
Also, every expansion... the requirements do go up; you won't be as smooth with any system in MoP as that same system is in Cata.

i found an i7 on newegg with a promo code for right around 300$.
which i think is a good deal concidering some other promos i found today.
case/powersupply 850w for 300 and my ram is under 100 16 gigs.

so i think ill go this route and make my order
