I've had a Logitech MX518 for about 4 years now I think. Other than the logo being worn off, it's the best mouse I've ever used. Eight buttons, and it's corded. Not totally sure they're still made, because I only see them new at Fry's, but they're around $50 I think.
Naga here too. I thought all those buttons would be overkill with a Saitek Command Unit under my left hand, but I was wrong.
DPS and tanking keys on the left, Heals and utility on the right. You find all those buttons with your thumb easily after a few days, but the last row (10-12) are a little difficult to get at so I use them for pre-combat functions, like setting focus or adding raid icons.
Even if you don't think a 17 button mouse is for you, it may be worth a try, it's a decent mouse even if you only used a fraction of the buttons (which you wouldn't =P)
So many people complaining about the Razer mice being fiddly. Here's the thing though:
Logitech's ergonomics are so basic it's something you can appreciate as soon as you put your hand on the thing (like they were designed to be display models). Razer's you will need maybe a couple of days to fully adjust to, because they're so different. After using Logitech mice for a long time I've bought both a Lachesis and a Naga, and for both I spent the first few hours thinking I'd wasted money on something I'd never get used to using, then I just got on with adjusting to them.
I discovered the Razers are far superior, because they make you learn to use your hands more effectively, and because developing muscle memory is what allows you to find all the buttons just as fast as one sat right under your finger all the time.
Consider this: If blind people didn't take the time to learn to read braile, they wouldn't be able to read, but they do, and they read just as well as anyone else, and yet any non-blind person who has ever run their fingers over braile just takes the easy option, and thinks to themselves 'I could never learn to do that'.
I learned to ride a bike, so I don't need training wheels any more. I learned to use a Razer, so I don't need a Logitech any more.
naga for me too, same thing as everyone else, took a few days to get used to it but i dont know what i would do without it now.
I bought the Naga, thanks guys. It is taking some time to get used to...
The one I've been using is a Cyborg RAT-9. I really like having adjustable width and length so it fits my hand better, and the on-the-fly snipe mode, 4-position sensitivity adjuster and toggled button configs are quite lovely.
That thing looks really nice, thanks to this thread I'm now going to try either a Naga or a RAT-9, I'd love the customization of the Saitek (Plus I love all Saitek products) but the buttons on the naga would be sweeeeeeeet.....Quote:

I just want to point out that you don't need to be able to reach or use all 12 side buttons for it to be useful. I myself am only using the two first rows (1-6) plus 8 as those are the ones I can comfortably reach with any sort of precision. That's still 4-5 more buttons available than a regular mouse.
If you're keen on a regular mouse I can recommend the Logitech G500, if it's still available. It's a modern MX518 with better button placement.
