I'm going to try this out tonight and i'll reply whether it worked or not. I see the value in something like this as well (running an all caster team)

Nice thread I set up gearscore to do the comparisons for a single buyer. It works as long as you are grouped with the characters you wish to buy for. It does suggest who would benifit the most from a particular item.
Sorry to necro this thread, but this is actually a functionality that I like with GearScore 3.0... and it seems to have been removed in the latest version (the new GS "PlayerScore") seems pretty much 100% worthless so I've removed it - but is there any addons out there that do this ... esp. without being master looter?
I too am interested in this question.
EPGP lootmaster doesn't mention specifically being able to see what gear people have on a per slot basis... is that the addon people were suggesting for this earlier?
As part of the master looter / council stuff it does. However this doesn't help you much at the AH, /trade, inspecting, or a player crafts links. My addon basically makes a sister docked tooltip with the player (slot/slot) for each player for every item tooltip you look at. This information is populated from the other players in the group's slots with some braindead ilevel, cannot equip stuff. They need to be running the addon. The 'upgrade logic' I never bothered to look at, such as taking a dr damage approach at the remote player side and pushing that along with the item link.

would be nice to have an addon that would do what blizz does now by holding down shift over an item to show what YOU have now, plus more frames for what your party has in that slot.
if i knew how to code lua i'd give it a try ;)
I'll confirm that the epgp addons work well enough, although it makes me a sad panda that I have to have it on ML to use so I'm missing most of the loot (and when I get to northrend and need the cloth I'll have to go back to FFA).
Probably the only reason I really ever used gear score was for that function.
I'll give that eqdkp stuff a try though.
Another option, that is pretty decent is, Altoholic.
You can set it up to share data between accounts and view all charcters gear from the same screen, more usefull for auction house etc stuff, so you can check all your mages gear on all accounts without alt-tabbing or needing to relog etc.

Takes a long while to share all data though the first time you do it, so I didnt bother and just alt tab between accounts.
