Yeah, that glyph is pure gold. I went from 48 to 56 in BRD just holy nova spamming everything and getting 130k-170k xp per hour (with heirlooms, but still) with a disc/holy spec. Currently at 58 and working in my DK instead of my warrior.
The amazing thing is, even single target dps isn't noticably worse that shadow and the AE + heals are simply amazing.
Sitting at level 64 now and still going strong. Did mana tombs yesterday, which someone had experienced was the end of the viability of holy nova, but it went very well. Since some of the mobs do a mortal strike-type of debuff, I limited myself to pulling a max of two packs of elites (7-10 mobs typically), but it still went great. Two things though - the mana leeches are not to be AE'ed (obviously) and the AE fear mobs don't go well with lots of mortal strike debuff mobs. But I guess that's pretty obvious.
Anyway, I havent reached the point where mana starts being the limiter (I'm around 50% mana after I finish unless something goes wrong) and there's a new holy nova rank at level 68, although I don't expect to be able to continue doing this in northrend since the tendency seems to go towards mob packs with less, but harder hitting mobs. We'll see :-)
Seems youtube purged my video for being too long. Oh well. Turns out that mana tombs are actually great for levelling with holy nova as long as you watch out for the terrors (undead racial helps too).
My team is currently at 70 where the holy nova party has stopped. Or rather, I can still holy nova groups of mobs down, but the northrend instances has a lot less trash than BC instances, which means that mob packs are harder to gather, and the mobs hit a lot harder also, so I've switched to dk tank + disc priest + 3 x shadow for now, although I'm heavily considering shelfing this team for now as the tank + healer + 3 dps feels a lot like my main team, only lacking cleanse, heroism and buffs.
Most likely I'll just make them alchemists (and /mourn the 30k spent on flying skills :P), but we'll see.
Hmmm, the passiv Heal is really nice from 4 Shadows and if you need more you can make a Schield and the other one makes the HoT on the Tank.
I would prefer a Disc Priest and no Holy Priest if you want to Box instances solo
My main team (prot paladin, holy priest, arcane mage, mm hunter and elemental shaman) has done all heroic instances and glory of the hero. I've tried both disc and holy as healer and my experience is that holy is better at AE heals, while disc is better at single target heals. Disc is the easiest to start out with because when you have mediocre gear it's more mana efficient, but in the end it's really a matter of preference.
Anyway, the passive healing from 4 shadow priests isn't anywhere near enough to keep the tank up (at least not until you way outgear the instances anyway), and switching in and out of shadow form is both costly in mana and dps, so that's not really an option :-) Casting a lot of shields and renews on the priests is pretty mana intensive but doable, just way less efficient than having a specialized healer since you end up paying a price in terms of mana expensive heals.
Hmmm, the most time its enough to keep the Pala alive :)
For me it works and for what AoE Heal, this is the Shadow thing ^^
The problem is only with lower gear but every point you spend in shadow is really, really nice and i have only PvP Equip and only a PvP talent tree
With a PvE Spess and PvE gear i think its in Heroes absolut no problem to heal the Tank ( and the grp ) only with VE
Once you outgear the instance almost anything works, but then again if you outgear the instance you can faceroll through with holy nova and smite spec anyway :P
Whether VE will be enough depends heavily on you gear level and most importantly on the tanks gear level. With my main team I rarely ever cast any spells on my healer except prayer of mending and the occasional AE heal - with 4 shaman, usually the healing streams are enought, but only because I outgear the instances :)
Edit: Keep in mind that the pre-argent tournament heroics are designed to be challenging in blue gear. Being decked out in ilvl 232+ gear is way way way overgearing the instances - back then, Naxx-10 dropped ilvl 200 gear :)
For the new ICC5 er instances it works too ;)
I never tried the other/older instances because i dont like PvE but im sure its much easier with a disc or holy priest to farm gear
good luck
