Anyone having fun doing stealth runs with a 5 druid team? Feral, boomx3, resto seems like it would be able to take out a lot of heroic bosses.
I'm wondering if that resto is needed.
To me it seems it can be be done with 4 balance specs.
Only one needs the boomkin form, that leaves 3 characters in caster form to spam hots when needed.
My druid-boxing knowledge is limited,
read the above as a question :p
considering that they are changing spelldmg and healing to spellpower, the unified stat that druids will love, balancedr00ds will be very viable healers, especially since you triple the effects with that setup.
3 lifebloom stacks refreshed every 5-6 seconds should keep any moderately geared tank up in WotLK - even without a tree in the group.
And with the limit on swipe being removed (if they keep this, and I hope they do), a feral should be able to do paladinstyle group-tanking (almost)
Swipe becomes especially effective, when you have enough rage to powerspam it - and if you pull a group of 5-6+ heroic mobs...
And before then, dont forget Entangling Roots becomes usable indoors :) (I predict lots of 5-boomkin heroic-clearing, with this change in effect)

you guys are spot on. my four droods are all deep balance (tho one has imp gift of the wild). generally, i keep three in stance:0 to HoT and heal, though the same macros will work for all four when my 'leader' is out of boomy. when paired up with a tank, i sometimes keep all four out of boom for the +33% extra heals as well as avoiding crit-happy threat stealing.
i use f1-f12 for heals on my four toons. f1-f4 do cast rotation regrowths targeting each toons specifically (opting out on stance:5), f5-f8 do four Rejuvenations on each toon respectively, f9-f12 do lifeblooms. on the toon that the key is targeting (f1,f5,f9 target Balsfjord for example) if he is in stance:5 (moonkin) then he will barkskin instead of heal himself.
since i use the 'FTL' system for dynamic leader swapping(many thanks to the members who explained how to do this!), i have my focus target available for targeting my fifth party member. so i have separate keys for heal rotation and insta-HoT-ing my buddy. if my focus target doesn't exist or is not a friendly unit (i sometimes use it for special case attack or cc macros) then these heal keys target party1 instead. this way, if i let my buddy be party leader (tanks love being leader!), then i don't even need to bother with focusing him.
one of the coolest things about this drood team is that i can do a healthy amount of secondary healing with instants, thereby not having to interrupt the flow of dmg for more than a global cooldown at a time.
when playing pve on their own, i try to time my casts such that the boomy leader gets his spell off very slightly before his cows. that way, he tends to 'tank' for me with his +400% moonkin armor.
when the new talents drop, i will likely spend more time with all or three toons in moonkin, since they will be getting many more advantages than just the aura from the stance: frenzy!, +spell dmg from spirit, +4% dmg from master shapeshifter, + 10% intellect from furor. thinking od setting up some of the side keys on my g15 for swapping between a) all tauren mode, b) all boomkin mode, c) one boomkin, three cows, d) three boomkin, one cow(with enhanced rejuv).
ooh, another trick i am using that i'm not sure others are yet, is multi-target cc. it works fairly well to allow me to cc 3-4 targets with one key.
so, on my leader, when i hit the '6' key, it will entangle his target. my second toon then runs this macro:
/targetenemy
/cast Entangling Roots
then the third runs (the '1' tells it to tab backwards through the target list):
/targetenemy 1
/cast Entangling Roots
and the fourth (this is slightly ghetto since you can only have one /target command per macro) runs:
/targetenemy
/castsequence reset=5 ,Entangling Roots
so, when i tap '6' once, if three targets are in 'tab-able' range of all my toons, then all three can get entangled. if i double tap the '6', the second tap causes the last toon to entangle the fourth target, if there is one. basically, he tabs twice and then entangles.
this is certainly not a perfect system, as i believe that the targeting lists are individually computed per toon and not always ordered the same. however, it works great for such a fast move, and at worst doubles up cc on some of the targets.
once i hit 70, i'll be adding the same system for cyclone. to all the shamm-boxers out there...this should certainly work great for hex!
Can you explain this one to me again, please? When you say the "1" makes it tab backwards through the target list, does that mean you had to have targeted all three enemies in sequence prior to hitting the macro?
On the premade server using 5 druids. One is feral and 4 are balance.
Normal level 80 5 mans have been easy enough using focus/root macros and just hotting the tank up. As soon as i stepped into heroics it became evident the the tanks premade pvp crap wasnt going to cut it.
The trash mobs were still fine using roots and hots, but the bosses i have had a heck of a time with. Too many HP's to chew through while hotting and dpsing even using innervates. Id like to try speccing one resto with 3 balance when i get more time. I wish the tank classes came with premade tank gear and not PVP gear as they are taking alot of damage that could be avoided with more def stats.
peace
and with the changes to entangling root...........................
this seemed more general that this thread, so i made a new one if anyone cares.
