They've done alot of things to help speed up the endgame grind so that more folks have a chance to gear up quickly and rep out quickly. They want more people to be able to experience the ICC stuff. It's definately a nice change and yes you have the potential to gain alot of badges this way.
-
Not to mention the title and pet for clearing 100 heroics this way if you have at least one random pug in each one.
-
Shit it requires one random PUG? HELL NO... guess I wont be getting that pet.
-
Rofl whoa wait wait.. So I cant take me entire 5 man team and do the random dungeon? or can I... Im lost scared and confused... Hold me.
-
You can use your whole premade group and use the random dungeon tool. You could *also* use 4 of your guys, get a random pug, and then do it too.
-
From what I've read, when you do the "random dungeon", which can be PUG or your existing team, it will randomly pick one and you can do this even if you've already done it this day.
If it gives you a dungeon your team cannot beat, or you hate. Wait 15 minutes and get a new one. Chances are good, it will be different.
You could conceivably get the same heroic dungeon 3+ times in a single day.
-
Did I read somewhere that you dont have to literally fly to a dungeon anymore after 3.3? Something about the new dungeon system ports you where you need to be?
-
Yes you get ported to and from it from where ever you want, like bg's are now.
even gives you a town portal feature for repairs etc like in diablo i've heard
You can do random dungeons just fine with a full 5 man team, but it'll only count toward getting the title and pet if you run with 4 or less and get 1 or more random pugs assigned to each run, i believe.
The title is "the Patient" for a reason ;)

OK... So basically... If i can do heroics @ 30 mins per....
I can basically sit and farm heroics for badges untill i'm fully geared in like 2 days? You kidding me?
-
Some heroics take a bit longer, but yes, that is basically it.
not sure if the new, harder ICC heroics are included in the random set though, as that would likely delay you until you are geared enough to breeze through them similarly.
In any case, yes, they want everyone to get geared so we can all experience the higher content and important storyline stuff.
