I don't celebrate Christmas or anything that is more about guilt and obligation than anything else. My husband and I don't need excuses or debt to make each other happy.
I just budget for my hobby. I've nogotiated christmas down to everyone pulls a name out of hat and gives a small personal surprise gift to that person - no vouchers and no wishlists to simple purchase off.
Christmas is about great food, close family and the kids. Let the kids have all the presents. :)
I love spending money and buying gifts for friends and family. :)
OP sounds like a great idea, brownie points ahoy! I could cancel for two months and spend the money on the missus with the added Christmas good will of 'You know that game you're always complaining about me playing? Well, not only am I stopping it for two months but the money I'm saving I'm spending on you too! Merry Christmas!'
Only slight drawback is, give an inch take a mile, she may decide that she likes the house to be a WoW-free zone and insist on the other 10 months too
