It all depends on how fast/good the boosting player is, if you do it yourself (with a 5 man group) and can do it fast then it can be worth it.
If your being boosted and the person your with takes forever then there is little point.
But always try and do the quests in one go if you can for lots of lovely xp :)
Absolutely agree with the above poster on boosting with kill quests using a hunter main.
My hunter is in t5 and I ran my lowbie priest through the stv hunting chains like a rocket. Doing the Hinterlands rampaging tonight...
Good idea on BRD - I'll try that one next. :D My main never did finish the UBRS key.
(Btw, leaving the pet on banzai mode in these lower areas sure helps with any surprise/stealthed mobs.)
You're not wrong here, Fur. If a Fire Elemental does 100% of the damage to a mob, no one gets any XP. However, I don't think it's necessary to "tag" the mob first, just some player-character has to do some damage to it before it dies. I suppose you could whip out a Fire Elemental and then lay down a couple magma totems on your alts and hope you get some hits on the group before it dies.
Instance powerleveling is very efficient in the RFC/WC/RFK/SM series of instances (not many people mention RFK, but with a mage I just arcane exploded my way through it with my newbies on /follow). L38 or so starts to get rough on XP in SM:Cathedral, though. I waited until L40 to stop instance grinding them, and I was reasonably happy with the time it took to go from L8/10 -> 40.
I may bring along a L70 main to help me with running through some instance quests, but I think I'm going to 2.3-quest-XP it from here to L58, when I'll move them to Outlands (for more questing...).
Nice part about instance running with a disenchanter is you can make up for some of the lost $$ by selling off shards. I set my main to master looter and only looted something that was tagged as having a green-blue item on it.
The above about pet-tagging is true; even if the pet gets first hit, as long as someone dmgs it they'll get exp for it. When I'm speed-farming mana motes in netherstorm I'll drop my treants on one mana wyrm, start attacking a 2nd, then insect swarm the one my treants are on and finish the 2nd off; loot rights to both corpses. If i don't IS, I can't loot the one my Treants killed, I'm sure exp is the same way.
You don't get the kill if only your totem does damage eitherQuote:
