The phasing issue that concerns me the most is the inability of a high level leader toon to boost low level toons through the old world instances because they are no longer in the same phase.
Aside from that, I'm OK with the reuse of the old world.

They mentioned improving the UI to see players near you but in a different 'phase'.

Hopefully the result is something that'll help us.Quote:
Q: Will “phasing” be used more extensively in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm?
A: Yes. We’ve come up with a number of new, cool ways to using phasing since we introduced it in Wrath of the Lich King, and plan to use it more extensively to change the world as players progress. We are also now able to phase terrain, which players will see in the starting areas for the goblins and worgen. We’re also adding some UI improvements to help determine when another player is in a different “phase” from you.
for boxing, it might cause problems yes.
as an expansion itself, it looks totally awesome. its progression, not recyclism, im glad i can return to kalimdor, after spending so much time in northrend, to find that naralaxx or whatever that druid is in wailing caverns has finally changed the face of the barrens, for example, and that ragnaros is back, and deathwing is ready to take over the world, and hey... you can finally see uldum and take a walk around under the mealstrum, or what have you. the world around us is changing and progressing. i like that.
This.
Except I haven't finished boosting my warrior/shaman duo to 60 yet. They're level 43. And the druid the 3rd account has been gifting is still 31. If I stop now I can "gift" him up to 43...single-box him to 60 to join my 2nd 3-man team that will start when my current 3-man hits 80 or gets boring.
I'll save the warrior & shaman classes for my goblins
I'm just resentful that, after pointing out that the Cataclysm rumors looked like bullshit on a few different forums ... it turns out that I WAS WRONG! Cataclysm is obviously out to embarass me, so now I can't give it the satisfaction of playing it. Hrmph. So begins the personal vendetta.
But actually, now that it's real, I quite like the idea of multiboxing goblin melee spurred on by some orc caster. It sounds so Warhammery. "GIT 'EM, GITS!!"
Cataclysm looks freaking awesome.
That is all.
You have no idea how many times I have walked up to Grim Batol and said," Damn I hope they put something sweet in here soon." Though I don't like the thought of Tauren pallies, it means I now have NO need for Blood Elves, yay!
As far as new races, idc, probably play both, but Gilneas is of interest to me. I hate those places in the world where you see a place to go and can't get there, and places that were empty on my map, there is a coastline, so there must be something there!
The sad part for me is I joined the game about at TBC release, and haven't really experienced all the old world content yet. I have been taking my highest team to run through the instances way overleveled to at least see them. There is so much to see and do, and my time is so limited. I only got one team to 60 and one to 40 on RaF :(. Didn't get my zevra mounts, didn't get my granted levels. Stupid work. Ugh.
So I continue to slowly level all my personal FotM teams (on 4 different servers) without heirloom bonus because I OCD about not having rested bonus. New expansions make me sad.
As far as the phasing UI upgrade, I strongly believe that will just be a "phase marker" in front of the name when they chat/ask a question in general. Then you read it and think," I don't have to help this dolt now because I already finished that phase, yay me!"
I cant believe that we're already complaining about this lol (ok yes i can).
I am waiting to hear more about this mastery / path of the titans thing. Also the guild leveling sounds like fun (I enjoyed it in EQ2, we'll see if its similar).
When I stop progressing my character I stop playing, so lets hope its something both fun, meaningful, and in depth.
Anyways.
We'll see.
My only major gripe so far is that these changes to the old world are PERMANENT and there will be no way to go back once it starts. I was kind of hoping they would implement something where you can go back to the original old world through the Caverns of Time. No such luck though.
And my only REAL concern about that is that I have places like ZG and Karazhan on Farm for the mounts, and I really really hope they do not change those zones at all.
Also, if I ever do boost up another team, I'd like to still be able to take them through Deadmines, Scarlet Monestary, Zul Farak, Strat.
If all that gets left alone, then I'm gtg.
I noticed that there will be heroic versions of SFK and Deadmines with the new expansion. That is awesome. I'm immune to complete instance burn-out; since I'm a dungeon-crawler at heart, I'm always game to do an old dungeon again, provided I haven't been running it twice a night for the last week and am fed up. I've been hoping they'd start remaking old instances with heroic versions, maintained at the current level cap. This doesn't completely fulfill that hope but it's a nice start!
