I'm not planning to reroll to paladin, but if I was starting over there's no question I'd take a paladin over dk. For heroic tanking it doesn't make much difference though.

JoL doesn't have 100% to proc though...so the heals from JoL tend to be spikey. :) Also heals from JoL don't generate any extra threat anymore (changed in 3.08 ), which is one of the reasons its the judgement of choice for Ret pallies.Quote:

If the faction transfer doesnt happen in 3.2 then I will need to level a tank. I'm waffling back and forth on paladin or druid. I have done DK and Paladin horde side and I like them both, just want to try something different or stick with an easy tank (paladin). I think about trying warrior and then go.. god do they still require stance dancing.. ugh. Ya fack that.
/shrug I never leave defensive stance on my prot warrior and I've done just fine.Quote:

What I like about paladins is there really isnt much to macro. Warriors I can think of a ton of things you need to have ready (granted you could do without and be a mediocre tank). Intervene, stuns, silences, and I'm sure they can be condensed down to nice macros. I guess Im just too lazy at this point, lol.
I think what really got me to use my pally is being able to use her as prot when Im doing instances, and at any other point I use her as ret which makes dailies amazingly fast, all that under one macro.
Ret requires macro much longer than 255 characters to use, Im using an addon for that, but when I tested it in naxx few days ago my ret was doing over 5k dps in not so good gear, much better than just castrandom spam.
I feel the Paladin synergizes with the Shammies better then the other tanks.
They are spell casters and mana users.
The benefit from Totem of Wrath, Mana Spring Totem etc.
Your shammies are also casters.
On the other hand, AoE silence really hurts Paladin/Death Knight tanks.
Warriors and Druids are less disabled, or not at all.
A Paladin seems a lot easier to reduce to a castrandom or 6969 castsequence.
They're closer to optimal when macro'd then the other tanks.
In the end its preference, but I'm personally happiest with the Paladin.
I played a Feral tank for a good chunk of Burning Crusade raiding.
I've never played a Warrior beyond 40th, so cannot comment on them.
Haven't played a Death Knight outside of Beta (when they were very much OP), so cannot comment too much on them either.
I dont know with an all caster group that 13% increase to spell damage is just to sexy to pass up.
In an all caster group I will always have either a moonkin for earth and moon or warlock for Curse of the Elements or a dk for ebon plaque bringer that's 13% increase to everyones damage
that's really hard to beat.
completely offtopic (sorry!) - Niley could you PM me that ret macro? :)Quote:
