Wait and see how much of a difference it makes to actually be able to use all of your ram.

Your system should run just fine with windows and 3 gigs.
I am running about the same setup you are without a problem Cities don't give me any trouble.
The only difference is I have 4gigs but being on windows xp my comp only sees the max of 3.45 gigs.
I think some of your sticks are bad or loose. Check that first before you go upgrading anything. Make sure you have the right ram in it also.
Check your video settings. I had to force my computer to see the last gig. I don't remember how we did it either. You might also try taking out 4 gigs. They are pointless to have in your system as it sits right now anyway.
Edit.. I noticed your asking about upgrading your video card. I was 5 boxing off of a 7600 card again with little trouble. Your card is fine. I would stick with something is wrong with your ram. IMO signs are there with it only seeing the 2gigs. It should see 3 at least...

With 8G you should see more then 3G, if you see exactly 2G something is wrong.
I see 3.1G on a normal computer with 4G (look in task manager preformance)
I get 3.6G on my computers with readyboost .5G ram onboard.

however
ok i try remove some of my memory to see if that helps as for my task manager is shows physical memory
total 2095580
available 1560324
system cache 622252
Kernel memory
total 114712
paged 72728
nonpaged 41000
but on my system properties general tab it shows 2g of ram
i am running windows xp home that would be the reason why i see only 2 gigs
i don't have the 64bit vista yet but i will soon
cheers

XP Supports 4 gigs of ram total. BUT that includes your video card memory (which is 512K or 1/2 a gig) . So you should see at least 3.5 gigs available.
I think that:
1) You don't actually have 8 gigs, you might have thought you got 8 gig but only got 2.
2) You don't have it installed correct, or your motherboard doesn't recognize that memory. For instance, you bought 2x 4 gig DIMMs and the MB isn't seeing them at all.
I'd bet on #1.

no i bought 8 gigs
no i bought 8 gigs so i thinking its not showing up
or not show up right on the page cause when i put them in my computer got like 10 times faster in everything
i got 4 x 2gigs installed i going to take 2 of those out later this week can't do it right now due to some things i need the computer for
cheers

UPDATE
i reboot my computer all 8gigs show up in the bootup screen so they are there
i will be buying the vista home 64 bit unless i should get something else
-
Sounds good you will get to use all 8G with vista 64 (but each application is still limited to like 2G - but thats per instance not per all wows).

Man, I love it when a reboot fixes everything.
