A lot of 1.0 content has indeed been nerfed. When i first created a character it was via horde and i spent a lot of time in silverpine forest where you had to worry about elites all over the place. Those elites are long since gone as are other aspects of that particular build.
I forgot about those elites in Silverpine forest. I was always running around that place on pins and needles. Damn that shit was fun.
The indeed changed all the level requirements fort he isntances and the mobs inside of them, since 3.0?

yeah, the BoA items are supposed to be equivalent to the best in class blue item you can get for the same level. they really rock
one of my accounts didn't have enough tokens so that pally had the best blue item for a level 20 (when they were level 20 ) so everyone did the same dps output
but as soon as they were level 21, that one account lagged the team because his weapon didn't scale up. and the next time an equivalent best in class item shows up is usually several levels later, like at level 24 , etc.
that last account now has enough tokens so that last character will catch up with the team :D
I miss the old content. I really hate the way it has been relegated to forget-it-ever-existed status.
I miss all the elites out in the world. I think there are only a few left like Tyr's Hand and that island off of Southshore with the undead. Why are they even there because I don't think I've ever seen a quest that required going to either area. I can see why they did it though. Not everyone runs around with their own army like we do.
What WoW needs MORE of is outdoor Raid content on random timers. No more of this 7 day reset bullshit. Give me an outdoor 25man Raid boss with a random 16-36hr respawn timer.
Probably 6 to 8 months, pre WotLK, there was a patch which reduced the difficulty of many areas of the game.
Numerous formerly elite mobs became normal mobs.
This was to help the less skilled or newer players solo content, which formerly required 2-3 players to complete.
The idea was to dumb the game down to a level where more players could be successful.
In particular, mobs outside of instances were hit.
Sure, our gear for our alts in better then our gear was when we first ran instances.
And our talent options are generally stronger too.
They've reduced the number of trash mobs in numerous instances.
In the patch which brought out the WotLK talents, but was still BC content, they nerfed all boss health by.... I believe 25%, but don't quote me on that number.
The game has been dumbed down numerous times.
Cater to the masses, who average 12-16 years old, with limited attention spans.
Reduce the difficulty of content so more of the player base can accomplish things.
Definitely a strong business model, wow is so much more successful the EQ ever was.
EQ catered to the elite 0.03% of the player base, creating challenges which many players did not see until 2-3 expansions after the content was released.
EQ was raiding on hard mode; wow is easy mode for the entire game.
Not necessarily complaining about that, just an observation; afterall, I'm not playing EQ and am playing WoW.
