Try a target dummy in one of the less visited major cities.
I hardly get any onlookers when I use the one in Exodar. Don't know what the horde equivalent is though.

For Alliance I would say Darnassus.

Yeah, if I really want privacy and to ensure no-one debuffs the target, I go to Darnassus. Besides being a dead zone in the first place, the dummies are pretty well hidden in the trees by the entrance.
Maybe I'm not understanding things, but if you're using Recount, having other people attack the dummy doesn't matter.
I've had 3 other people come and run their rotations on the DK boss dummy as I was doing it and nothing changed.
I've had the same thing happen to me.
if I do it in a busy city like Ironforge I end up with at least 5+ people trying to help me kill it.
I think it's kind of funny myself.
Try a less busy city like exodar, they are kind of off to the side there ( if you are alliance that is ).
I've used Silvermoon City as well. No one ever bothers me there. If you want to see your solo performance on recount, go out of the way to SMC. If I feel lazy and use the ones in Org (next to my hunter's trainer) there will inevitably be debuffs of all kinds on the dummy from every other person walking by who chimes in. This is useful! If you want to see a little more realistic view of yourself in a raid situation, grab a few friends and kill the dummy together. The more the merrier for that purpose. Buff each other up and whack the dummy together to see some raid synergy.
The issue is if they use a debuff on the target dummy that will for instance increase your damage numbers - if so that screws up your 20 min run :)Quote:

Hmm...perhaps engineers can make target dummies and sell them. Then you can put them up wherever you want and whack away.
Just to clarify: it's not that someone else jumping in screws up recount - even if they do, it's easy to reset and start again.
Maybe it's just me, but what amazes me is the lack of manners and civility in the game - it's what led me to MBing anyway. It astounds me how rude and demanding people are, and how they'll just do things, uninvited, and then laugh at you if it does screw you up - too many people enjoy griefing too much.
It's like the other day, I'm questing, and this dwarf DK runs up and starts whacking away at my mob. Now, my team 2-3 shots most non-elite mobs at this point, I appreciate that he might want to help, but I was in no danger, nor asking for help. So I just keep going and tag another mob. He runs in and whacks away again. Ah, one of "those" players - i know what's coming.
I head off in another direction, try and shake him off. I know he's not going to say *anything*, he wants an invite.
Tag another mob, there he is. I stop fighting, and turn away.
"Invite"
"excuse me?"
"Invite me already"
"Sorry, we're questing as a guild"
"But I need help" (Actually, he typed "hlep"
"Sorry"
"@#$@##@ you newb go @#@!@# yursslef"
/sigh
Reported him, hearthstoned.
I could never imagine acting like that, demanding someone invite me, and then hurl abuse when someone politely says no.
That's what is killing the game for me. I just can't abide with people like that. Call me a snob, but I just can't.
That's why people who just jump in on a dummy annoy me - it's uninvited, it's rude, and how hard is it to *ask* me what I'm doing? IF, and it's a small "if", they think they're helping - most of the time they're just being assholes.
I love WoW, but I've grown to despise and completely mistrust the average player.
Whattya gonna do?
