When I made my accounts I stupidly made 3 of them with false names, then read that people get reported/banned for it, so I promptly talked to a GM.
After a quick convo with him I feel happy boxing with them, as he was saying that I shouldn't get banned, and if I do then I can talk to the GM's to work something out... yada yada yada.
I would say the worst thing about being banned for account sharing is whining about the consequences of account sharing to the people who TOLD YOU not to account share....
....of course that's just my opinion. ;)

Logging in from "2 different IP-adresses" has nothing to do with getting caught. I have 3 different ISP's, 1 Fibre connection for general use, 1 adsl for work + as a backup connection and 1 mobile connection (3g, for the laptop). You can be pretty sure they are on very different IP's all the time. If I log an account on my laptop, and 3-4 others on another pc, then multibox - then yes, I'm multiboxing from several different IP's and machine-ID's at the same time. This is not a problem.Quote:

What IS a problem, is if you "borrow" :cursing: !! an account from a friend, and run it ON THE SAME FRICKIN' pc! Yes, your PC has a unique ID - and YES, it will be logged. Every time.
Now, if you log in on your own pc and play for a few hours, then log off and your friend who is visiting logs on - then he is using the same ID, but not simultanously - and this is not accountsharing.
You should be aware, that talking about accountsharing is also very stupid, as all whispers, says, emotes, yells, guildchat and otherwise ofcourse is being logged to and from every character.
If you really wanna know how much Blizzard actually logs and archives from this game, take a look at the Achievement system in WotLK - there are oldworld achievements coming out of the bazooka... and those are built from logs dating back to launch.
Bottomline - as Jim Carey so abtly puts it in "Liar Liar": STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE! :D

I was pointing out a small number of the many, many possible ways that people could get caught for account sharing because somebody thought it took a confession scribed in blood to get caught.
Given the number of PCs I have here and the number of accounts my wife and I regularlly run from a variety of those machines, I could pick holes in your SID examples, but they'd be as fatuous as your IP address example.
Sharing accounts is foolish, plain and simple.
