I have not seen any updated fire mage macros for lvl 85
Shania, I did only rudimentary work on the Fire Mage macros. All my guys are Arcane ATM, and that should just get better with the patch today.
So there may be things to optimize in the Fire rotation, but I'm very happy with Arcane damage, so haven't put the work in.
Is there a reason putting the the cast macro on the down press and the proc macro on the release won't work as well as using two keymaps? I'm new to ISBoxer and have not used a 2 step macro yet so forgive my ignorance.
(I've been managing 3 buttons that included macros.)
Two step can be, "Execute on Press or Release".
It can be execute on release only, and spam it at the pace you choose.... press 1 = Step 1, press 2 = Step 2.
You could physically have two mapped keys.
"1" is mapped to keybind A, on step 1.
And another mapped key, with a hotkey of "2" sends whatever also on Step 1.
And then alternate 1's and 2's, as the keys you spam.
The method doesn't really matter.
Although going two steps on one mapped key will let you mash a single button for DPS which is easier.
I guess my question is this:
The 2 step macro as described above wil send more "2" than ";". You will get something like 22;22;22; ... Is this weighting crucial or would 2;2;2;2;2; work just as well? Is the "2" weighted to insure that something will fire right way?
I haven't tested myself, but I've been told that Unleash Elements isn't worth using as Elemental, except when moving. Supposedly there are better dps spells to use in that GCD.
If that's wrong, I'd like to see some actual testing that shows why.
That is correct. With 2/2 in elemental weapons it adds 30% to your next fire spell. But it consumes a gcd.
My gcd approx 1.1
My lava burst has a 1.2s casy and crits for a about 38k vs raiding dummy
My lightning bolt has a 1.5s cast time, hits for 14k and crist for 26k
(1.8k haste, average of 10.5k spellpower over 5m dmg session)
So basically casting UE followed by LvB would do about 5k (self) + 10k extra lava burst damage or ~15k per gcd
Lightning bolt has a significant longer cast time than the gcd UE uses, but it can proc elemental overload (mastery), add a lightning shield orb and reduces the cooldown on elemental mastery with 3 seconds if talented 3/3 in feedback. This while it hits for about the same as the total effect of UE.
In short: the fact that lightning bolt can crit, go off twice, can add a lightning shield orb and reduce the cd on EM with 3 seconds makes using UE a dps loss.
The only times where you should use UE is when moving and when you can't refresh searing totem or flame shock. Or when you need a nuke (like breaking a shield on conclave raid) at a given time and flame shock is still on the target.
