The 3vs3 Thread! (3 shamans)

Hey guys, finally getting some gear in (I don't have nearly as much time as i would like to farm BG's, so my gear has taken a while to get up to par) and I am starting to win some 3vs3 wins in, i ended up this week with 1615. In case anyone was curious, heres armories of my guys...

A few observations:

-Without a dedicated healer, Healing macros are very important. Setting up 3 separate buttons, one to heal each member, is key.
- In a cc-dominated bracket, without anyone to dispel, I have found it advantageous to give all 3 shamans a pvp trinket. I use a macro something like this:
/use Medallion of the Horde
/use Icon of the Silver Crescent
/tar focus
/follow
/cast Elemental Mastery
/cast Nature's Swiftness
/cast [Target=focustarget] Chain Lightning

In order to pull off the burst combo even if 1-2 of my shamans are CC/ed or stunned. Helps immensely vs rogue teams. The /follow ensures that they are facing in the right direction when it goes off, since most CC's cause you to wander aimlessly, you can't take facing for granted!

If you guys want i can cover some of the strats that I use vs various cookie-cutter teams.

I am hoping that once I finish getting PvP sets on all my shamans, that I'll be able to break 1700 and maybe even get higher. Maybe not as viable as 4 shamans in 5v5, but i think it's at least viable for 1700+.

how much burst do you have with 3 shamies in your gear? enough to take an enemy down in 1 shot?

nope. Not a geared enemy at least. I'd say i can probably do about 8-9k vs a geared person, or 10k+ vs a 0-resil target. I can 1-shot people in BG's, but not in arenas. I have to rely on combos (LB -> CL -> Shock that land at the same time, for example) to take people out.

3x NS + EM + CL can take someone out once they have been "Softened" with shocks, nova totems, LB's, etc.

Spread out macro's in 3v3 is key, forming some type of triangle so no matter what target the are on the other 2 characters are chucking out damage.

I do 3v3 with my team and when I add the mage I usually lose games. But without the mage I am pretty strong now. That new arena with the ghost is my favorite. I stack my two guys at the spawn in the corner facing the door. I wait until they come in and nuke the shit out of them. It usually works. I have some trouble on the other two arenas. The key is killing the right person at the start. Mages piss me off. Never nuke the mage or you will be shooting at iceblock. Rogues are almost as bad with Cloak of Gayness. Try to nuke anyone who cannot totally avoid your damage like pallys, mages, or rogues. Once you get one of them down it should be easy. I usually start off with bloodlust purge LB NS CL and shock. That should kill someone unless they get out of range or your cc'ed.

hm, when you form the triangle, do you have everyone face towards the inside?

Never forget to rez a fallen alt if the other team gives you the chance. I did that twice today and I am sure it pissed them off cause it was 2v2 until I rezed my dead shaman.

Not trying to Hi-Jack your thread but I am leveling up 3 shamans and want to know if its enough or if i should pick up a 4th. I have been on the fence about this for a while now. It seems to me that 3 would be much easier in a BG. You wouldn't hurt your team like you might if you ran off as a group of 5. But i also want to do instances and arena as well. My concern is that with only 3 finding a healer and tank might not be that easy.. they may frown on a Multi-Boxer.

Also I want to do arenas as well but im concerned that 3 shamans might not have enough burst to really burn one guys down. I do have a 4th shaman i could use but its on my brothers account. I know that all accounts need to be in the same name so you don't get hit with the ban stick but is the last name enough. I guess i am looking for any advice on whether or not leveling this 4th guy up would be a good idea or not. I would hate to have 3 and think its not enough. I would also hate leveling a 4th and then having him get baned cause the first name on the account isnt the same. Any tips or advice?

Is it easy to do instances with 4 ele shamans and a pug tank? or is that just not possible? if its not i guess i could get a 4th and 5th account and level a shaman and paladin tank together and not worry about the account names. Thanks in advance for your tips and advice. :D

Dont make the same mistake I did. Break down and do 5 shaman or you will be playing catch up when you see guys playing 5 kicking ass. I started off with 3 shaman and planned on adding my pally 70 tank and my 60 mage. It sounded like a great PVE setup. It worked ok but 5shaman groups destroy heroics and pvp. I am still trying to get 2 more shaman to 70 so I can enjoy 5 shaman. Right now they are lvl 63 and it sucks.

Thanks pinotnoir, I just might do that. While i was waiting and thinking i picked up a 4th account and started some hunters so maybe ill grab a 4th shaman... but you make a great point there about pvp and heroics. Hummmm thanks for the reply :)
