Mac Question: macromanager or ikey2?

I got my Xkeys today and started playing with it and its awesome. Now I am just a little confused as to if i should be using both ikey and the macromaker and macromager apps that came with xkeys.

I think I understand how both work now and it seems to me they both do the same thing in some way.

What do you use both apps for and which ones would you recommend building? Macros from macro maker or build actions with ikey2?

Also would you recommend getting the $30 version of ikey2?

Sorry for the noob questions here...I'm moving slowly as all this is kinda new
