suggestion for signature rules

Not sure if this is the correct forum for it but here goes:

When I just tried modifying my avatar to put some text with the image, i got the error that the image is too big, as 20 kb is the limit.
I've opened it with photoshop, put the quality down from 12 to 6 and it's still 30'ish kb, even with quality 0 it's still too big, and it looks horribly ugly.

Could the limit be 'upped' a bit or does anyone have advise on how to make it smaller in size without losing visual quality?

Not sure what else you can do either. I removed my signature for that very reason. To get it down to limits, it looked like crap.

With a bit of mucking 'round, any signature can fit into the required dimensions

Try saving as a different graphical format - even try the 'saving for web' command in psd
