New to multiboxing, will this proposed setup work?

Heya,

Thinking of multiboxing five accounts with two computers. What I want to do is play just the one character on my current pc (Will be a warrior for tanking) and have 4 additional alts running off a seperate box. Will be looking at purchasing a quad core CPU with as much RAM as possible to run the extra accounts, they will run wow in windowed mode with the resolution and graphic detail set to lowest possible. This machine will be hooked upto a seperate monitor. What I want to know is will this keyclone program broadcast the keystrokes from the master machine to the slave machine and the seperate instances of WoW.exe running on it or will I need to invest in additional hardware to send the keystrokes to the other machine? What would be the optimal hard disc setup, one disk per wow account or one disk for all and what would be the best operating system for the slave system?

Edit: Forgot to mention character setup :-) Thinking of 2x Warlocks or Mages, Hunter, Priest and Warrior, can then slot in my mains when the multiboxed characters reach higher level

Yea that setup will work, Just buy 2 keyclones, install 1 on each machine and setup(stickies are up to show you how). Slave machine quads are good for 4 clients just dont run SLI mode on it it will kill your FPS. OS- xp and vista32 4gb ram max, any more ram and you will need a 64bit OS(Vista64)or its just a waste of ram.How many monitors? 2 will work fine, just use keyclone to setup your screens on the slave machine(stickies there to show u how).

Me personly on the slave machine running the 4 clients I would do 1 install and make 4 other directories for the 4 accounts and symlink em to the main install directory.

yes, keyclone will coordinate your characters on both machines.

i would ask though... if you are going to have a quad core, why not just have a single machine with 2 monitors? that way, you would be able to pip swap screens if necessary.

also.. if you are going to order a new machine.. i would recommend the nvidia 8800 series. definitely a quality card (although i have heard the 9800s are out...)

Cheers or the replies, rigged something up last night and gave it a whirl. Have a spare machine with an Athlon 64 3700 single core with 2gb of RAM, this was able to run three instances of WoW with fairly minimal slow down. I then purchased two copies of keyclone, put one on the main pc and the other copy on the spare pc and gave 4 accounts a try (Warrior and three Mages) and it all worked perfectly! With that in mind I've decided to downgrade the slave pc to a dual core athlon rather than a quad core2duo. I could run all five from the main pc however I'd prefer to keep it to running just a single instance of WoW purely because it's runs a lot of other cpu heavy apps in the background. The dual core setup will be dirt cheap as I have most of the parts anyway just need a board, processor and another copy of keyclone(comes to about £70ish)

Looking at the team setup again going to give a Hunter, 2x Shaman, Priest and a Prot Warrior a go.

I recommend going for the quad core over the dual core because they're not much more expensive and once you get started, you may well find you'd prefer to be on one PC after all.

I started with one WoW on my desktop and four on my laptop with keyclone taking care of the hard stuff. Within two weeks, I wished I was able to run all five on my desktop so I could PiP between them. I'm in the process of building a new PC just for this reason (Q6600, 4GB RAM, 8800GTS). Initially, I'll be on one 1680x1050 display but we all know how long that state of affairs is going to last (until payday).
