No, they all have to be the same sex, and race, otherwise they won't work together.
Also, make sure they are all wearing the same armour to reduce aggro, if one of them is wearing diffrent armour he generates more threat, this can be used to good effect on your tank. (Anyone who played Everquest will will note the value of a tank in pink Dyed armour)
Also, make sure you don't lower your spell penetration by choosing different hair colors resulting in bad synergy.
