(Elemental) Shaman Itemization for 70

I'm trying to research a list of items obtainable item via faction grind (and eventually arena and BGs).

I am still levelling my Shamans, but my goal other than level 70 was to get at least Honored reps for the PvP vendor gear.
I got Thrallmar, Cenarion, Lower City, and Keepers of Time done.

My next step is Shatar by turning in 180 Sunfury Signet and 2 Arcane tomes to get 1 point away from Honored, and killing 1 mob in Tempest Keep.

That said, I would have access to Chest, Helm, Shoulder, Legs and Gloves.

I was wondering if someone already started a list or guide to a Shaman's (Elemental) item progression from new 70, to 5-man instances, to bg/arena, to Heroics. (No KZ yet).

I suppose, one section of this would cover Enchants, and Gem selections with a Meta gem requirement in mind.


p.s. Don't forget to get 1250 Lower City rep for doing the Orphant quest, plus it gives 11-12k exp per quest (around 6 total I think) and gold!

The way I lvled I had all my rep and exalted with Lower City when I dinged 70. Now I am working on my honor/arena/badge gear.

The Shattered Sun would be my daily grind for flyer/epic, giving me some decent upgrades along the way:
Main Mace - Revered

Neck - Exalted
Shield - Exalted
and Alchemy Trinket when I get to it. - Exalted

Other than the Vendor PvP gear:
Ring - Spirit Shards
Ring - Cenarion Expedition - Exalted

Bracer ?
Belt ?

HEAD ENCHANT: Glyph of Power (Sha'tar Revered) +22 spell damage, +14 spell hit

This is a good place to start. Not perfect but better than nothing.

This gave me some ideas as to how to maximize a shaman group's dps in a raid. One method is to spread the shaman out to different groups, but this makes it very difficult to co-ordinate for the Mbox player since in most encounters the groups are spread in different locations. Thus grouping all the shaman is a much easier alternative. However this means using 5x totems of wrath, and minimizing the loss of the overlapping buffs.

I found that most of the badge reward loot pretty much has no crit or hit, maximizing returns with spell damage, spell haste, and int. This uses the assumption that having more spell crit after a certain point provides diminishing returns in terms of dps.

So in theory you could outfit your whole team in badge rewards (400+ badges) and kick absolute butt. Not sure how well this strategy actually works in reality. But this would be what I would gun for if I was hoping to outfit my team.


However gearing up in this manner means that you would limit the benefit of your presence to the other players.

1. Other than stoneskin, not much real benefit from earth totems. Excess could be more effectively used in a melee group.
2. 1 spell dmg, 1 threat reduction, 3 grounding? Excess could be more effectively used in a melee group, or spread out to other casters.
3. 1 mana spring, 4 healing stream. Unless there's a lot of periodic damage, this would be wasted as well.
4. 5xWrath. Maximum utilization, making full use of crit and hit.
