Anyone know a good way to get your clones to face in the same direction? I am having a problem when I will target mobs and attack them, if I haven't run a few yards in a straight line previous to the encounter I get a "Target is Not in Line of Sight" error.
There is no easy way, thus the reason most people don't multibox melee. ;)
Two ways most people do it:
1) /follow main, then move main around so the clones are facing the target again.
2) Spread out formation, /follow main and quickly tap "back up" to stop them, then continue ranged DPS.
Alright, thanks. Tap back seems to work alright. My problem was I was sitting in the middle of a bunch of nuetral mobs and was just spinning in place but thats fine, I will quickly run out of them to kill then comes the angular pulling to finish the rest of my problem
Another quick question. Maybe using the keymap editor or something, is there a way for me to bind multiple simultaneous keystrokes. IE, I want to hit alt+4 to cast Arcane Intellect on both lead and clone at the same time.
EDIT: Is there a way to set the follow distance. I thought there was a way ingame to do it, but I can't seem to find it since the UI upgrades in the last couple of patches.
sorry but no... there use to be a setting for 'follow distance'... but it was for the camera, not /follow
One thing I've found to help out in this arena is binding unique Autorun and movement keys for your main and your background characters. I personally use the WADS to control my main, unbind these from my background chars, and use the Num Pad for moving other chars. This way if you want to melee with all toons, your can initiate melee with your main and then maneuver slightly (forward, slight rotation, etc) so no LOS / target must be in front errors.
See how you like this for BG chars control:
Num Pad:
Num Pad 1 - Rotate Left
Num Pad 2 - Move Backward
Num Pad 3 - Rotate Right
Num Pad 4 - Strafe Left
Num Pad 5 - w/e
Num Pad 6 - Strafe Right
Num Pad 7 - Toggle Autorun
Num Pad 8 - Move Forward
I take this a step further and assign Alt modifier keys that alternate strategically between toons, so you can move your BG chars in subgroups.
Like:
(assuming BG chars)
A B
C D
Alt+Num Pad 1 - Rotate A and C Left, Rotate B and D Right
Alt+Num Pad 2 - Move C and D Backward, Move B and D Forward
Alt+Num Pad 3 - Rotate A and C Right, Rotate B and D Left
Alt+Num Pad 4 - Strafe A and C Left, Strafe B and D Right
Alt+Num Pad 5 - w/e
Alt+Num Pad 6 - Strafe A and C Right, Strafe B and D Left
Alt+Num Pad 7 - w/e
Alt+Num Pad 8 - Move C and D Forward, Move B and D Backwards
Alt+Num Pad 9 - w/e
To get this to work properly, you'll have to abandon your mouse for a bit and be hotkey savvy to maneuver your chars effectively, but now you can precision control your main and BG chars during melee situations. It's fun using left hand WADS for main and right hand Num Pad for your BG chars. Who needs to always use that pesky auto-follow? If you really want to melee you'll find that all you'll usually need to do, if you've engaged the mob from front or pull with ranged is initiate combat (attack) with your main, then tap Num Pad 8 a bit to get chars forward, then tap Num Pad 1 or 3 to rotate them slightly if their off-front.
For your desire to cast AI on all your chars, just have shared binding for the spell itself, and ensure that your F1 key is still target self, then just F1 + AI hotkey. Or you could take it one step further and write macro for self AI on all chars. But please have a target-based hotkey still, so you can buff me as I run by :)
