Time for a new PC, but would you buy now with a 980ti or wait a few months for the pascal cards to be released?
I think it will be a bit longer than a few months. Personally I would get the 980ti now, will be a while before something better hits the market.
It's anyone's guess as to when Pascal is going to be released, or even announced.
Rumors on the internet:
Announcement at GTC
- In the past, nVidia has announced Titan GPU models at GTC, but this year they didn't talk about anything except for deep learning and self-driving cars (Drive PX).
Announcement at Computex
- Last year, nVidia announced the 980 Ti at Computex (after announcing Titan-X at GTC), but it was for an already-existing node that they had been working on for years and already in the market (Maxwell), not something brand new (e.g. Pascal).
- I only saw this pop up after there was no talk about anything related to a release date at GTC, but people could have been talking about it sooner. /shrug
Titan-esque GPU before mainstream GPUs
- Again, nVidia has always announced the Titan GPU models at GTC, but there was no talk of anything like that this year.
Release in May/June
- Computex 2016 is from May 31st - June 4th, so maybe, but...
- While there may be an announcement, there's no guarantee that there will be a release in the near future.
Other things to consider
- In the past, nVidia has been releasing their GPUs like this: Tesla > Quadro > Titan > GeForce. This could indicate no Titan this time around since first-generation Pascal will be using GDDR5X, and not HBM2.
- First-generation GeForce Pascal is rumored to be a die shrink from Maxwell (28nm > 16nm).
- nVidia's Drive PX (which uses Tesla) isn't going to be out until later this year, or even Q1 of 2017.
- Tesla uses HBM2, first-generation GeForce Pascal will not (I doubt we'll see HBM2 before Q4 of this year).
- AMD is releasing their new line-up at the end of June, so it's possible that nVidia is too, but it's also possible that the rumors floating around about an nVidia release are to deter people from moving to the new AMD architecture.

If you can afford it, and want that fidelity, go SLI. I am running 2 980ti in SLI and at 4k I can still box and keeps some really good fidelity. I think MiRai has 2 titans(maybe 3 haha), and as such has more memory than I.

One TI should be good for boxing, its more about your CPU to a point. What CPU are you looking at?
Not sure yet. Think I'm going to spend around £3k excluding monitors, get the best I can afford
That is a pretty good budget, maybe think about the skylake i7 if you would be happy with a 4 physical core CPU and want to SLI, it is pretty cheap. 6/8 core are a bit pricier you may only be able to afford 1 GPU with it, but that extra CPU is pretty sexy.
