New to multiboxing - 1x warrior, 3x hunters 1x pala.

Hello multiboxers!

I'm about to create 3 accounts (I've already 2) and not sure what combination to use yet, therefore I need your help! :D

My plan looks something like this:

1x pala - Healer and leader
1x warrior - Tank
3x hunters - DPS

Do you think this will work very well in PvE, especially in heroics from cata and MoP?

Another question, I've already used account 1 to RAF account 2 for dualboxing for like a year ago but I feel like it's time to raise the bar and go for 5! But I'm unsure if it will work again if I use this:

Account 1 RAF -> account 3
Account 2 RAF -> account 4 and 5

Will all accounts get the 300% XP bonus this way?


And final (I know this dosent belong here but I just wanna ask everything in one thread, lazy me) can I run 5 accounts with 8gb ram and with AMD phenom II x4 965 black edition processor?

Having classes that are able to CC the enemy are usually nice to have when you're unable to overgear instances. This isn't true for every instance, but it was definitely true for Cataclysm heroics. MoP heroics seem to be more forgiving, but can still pose a slight challenge. If you're comfortable with using Hunter traps to CC when need be, then they should be fine.

If you're going to level all 5 at once, then yes.

Assuming you're not using a 5 year old video card, playing at some super-high resolution like 1600p, or wanting to play at Ultra settings, then I don't see why not.

I can't speak to the processor but I used to multibox with 8 gigs. Just keep your graphics really toned down for the non-tank boxes and you should be fine.

I personally wouldn't start my first multiboxing group healing on a paladin, though, I'd do something where you can get good passive healing rotations like a disc priest. Also you'll probably be happier driving from the tank, with a good click through system, which is very easy to set up in isboxer.

Is there a reason that you chose hunters? I've generally avoided them when boxing because its tedious to notice when the pets die and to micromanage their behavior.

My main is a hunter and have an ungodly DPS so I thought, why not. But if you recommend something similar like 4 warriors, 1 priest I will go for that. I wanna start with something simple just to get the feeling of controlling 5 accs. Only tried with dual-boxing from 1-85 and I can imagine that it's a whole new experience to control 5 of em to clear an instance.

So if you've some tips with combinations for a newbie, it would be awesome :))

I am in the middle of something like this so I can share my experiences. My first team was a pally tank and a druid healer. (just 2 toons) It was dirt easy from 1 to 80. I drove the tank, and used VideoFX to copy the healer's VuhDo buttons onto the tanks screen so that I could heal from the tank screen. I rarely did any healing and as it turned out I rarely tanked, either. I started by doing range attacks from the healer and by the time the mob got near enough for the tank to start to consecrate, the mob died.

On my second team I decided to have a warrior tank, a priest healer and a demo warlock. Here's where the trouble started. First, I drove from the healer which I think was a good idea. Driving from the tank would have restricted my field of vision. I did my pulls by "charging" the tank into the mob. Of course the Charge would break follow on the tank. The biggest problem was that a demo lock is essentially a melee toon once they get metamorphsis. I found it difficult to play both ranged and melee toons at the same time. I suggest that you avoid that on your first (new) team. At level 60 I finally realized that in order to get any dps at all out of my lock I needed to re-spec him into destro. Since then he's been doing decent dps. The most pleasant surprise was that my disc priest does massive damage and once she got Atonement, a large portion of all damage (via smite and penance) is passively copied to the other team members as heals or shields. I haven't pushed a VuhDo button - other than to cleanse off dots/poison/etc - in 30 or 40 levels. Disc Priests are great.

My next team will have a pally tank - they are really easy to play and they don't run off and break follow. They have super good AoE taunts and can taunt even if they're not facing the mob. I'll still drive the healer I think. I wouldn't make another warlock because of the complication of the pet and the slow ramp up time. Penance (on my priest) starts immediately and by the time my warlock is just getting started, the priest and/or warrior has usually killed the boss. So I would consider a priest again, but I may just have a pally tank and 4 shamans - 1 resto and 3 ele's.

Now that I've made groups with different classes I can see how it would definitely be easier for them to all be the same class.

If I could just figure out how to get the "Ground AoE" thing working... I need it for Rain of Fire and I'll need it for my Ele's. I think it's covered in one of the videos. Complete with a demonstration. If I could just remember which one... :)

Oh, I've seen and heard a lot of good stuffs about 5 ele shamans, but I feel like I wanna mix it up a little. Disc priest seems like a good idea. Priest is actually the only class I've not tried yet, ever. So I dont have any good knowledge about them. I thought disc was a healing spec? or they still deal good healing and DPS the same time? Well, It's a few days left before I will get the accounts (I'm away on work atm, getting free-from-work for a couple of months) so I think I will reach a decision before that. But keep coming with suggestions! :)

Yeah, you just dps and get free heals as a disc priest. Here's the Atonement part:

Ranged is probably the right way to go for your first dungeon group. If you dislike that idea, DKs have long been the most popular melee option for a reason.

If you're NOT doing dungeons then yes it makes sense to drive from range charging a melee in, like rfarris said, but in a dungeon you'll be happiest with direct control of your tank (and arrow keys to back up the rest of the team or move them out of fire) 4x disc plus warrior could be fun to start with, and then you can swap some of them to shadow if you feel like you'd rather be doing 50% more damage on that toon. My MOP heroic team had two priests for this reason, the second one was usually shadow but I could swap her to disc for annoying boss fights.

Yeah, this multibox idea seems so fuckin much fun, a new experience to WoW.

So atm I thought it would be a lot easier for me to start like 4 classes (with DPS/Tank class) and 1 healer class such as

4x warriors, 1 disc priest/pala
4x priest (split up between disc and shadow) 1x warrior (tank)
5x shamans (not sure how they perform in MoP, any ideas??)

any other suggestions that can be made for a newbie? Would love if they could deal some bigass DPS too, but I will give some serious time to gear everyone up as best I can :)
