Vista 64, 2 monitors = choppy - anyone else running this config?

I just built a new system, quad intel, 8gb, 2 8800gts 512's, Vista 64 ultimate...

Single monitor performance is awesome.

As soon as I enable a second monitor my wow's get slightly choppy...the framerate is still very high confirmed by bongos stats bar. If I drag a wow window over to the second montior it gets extremely choppy but reported framerate is still very high. I drag it back to the main monitor and it's back to how it was, fairly smooth. If I then turn off the second monitor it gets extremely smooth.

Anyone else experience this?

Are those of you who are running Vista 64 running SP1 or not? I regret having installed SP1 now in case that's what is causing this and I'm tempted to reload Vista completely since I'm not that far into installing everything yet.

I run vista64x without SP. 2 monitors. 5 box. It goes perfect.

I believe with 2 monitors dual 8800's run at the speed of 1x 8800 (it doesn't use SLI). With 1 monitor they use SLI.

Vista 64 bit, both with and without SP1 worked fine. Running two 22" monitors.

Are your monitors running the same resolution? I think there was some issue with NVidia and dual monitors(Horizontal span problem?). Might be just an XP issue though.

there is no horizontal span in vista

Looks like you have 2 video cards. I couldn't tell from your post, but you want to make sure you do NOT have SLI enabled and you want each monitor on it's own video card. Also, if you use v-sync, make sure you force it in the driver, not in game (when running more than one WoW).

i use 2 3780s in crossfire on a 64 bit vista with no probs at all. ( just wish i could run 3 montiors without disabling crossfire )

I have similar problems. Vista x64 with SP1. Some of my experiences here:

I see framerate drops and choppiness when running clone WoW windows on my 2nd or 3rd monitor if and only if that monitor is on a secondary graphics card. If I run extra copies on my main GPU they don't slow me down.

My system:
- EVGA 680i mobo
- Q6600
- 4 GB RAM
- 2x EVGA 8800 GTX
- Main monitor = 2560x1600
- 2x secondary monitors = 1200x1920 (portrait)

Should be plenty of beef for running 5x copies of WoW. At present I can only get smooth framerates by running 2 clones (800x600) on my primary monitor along with my main (1600x1200). I'd really love to find a solution for this so I can go back to running my main in full 2560x1600 glory.

Hmmm, I'm using an EVGA 780i board + 2 EVGA 8800GTS (G92 cores) and SP1.

I think later today I'm going to copy everything off to another drive, format and re-install Vista and re-install WoW and see what happens. I'll let you know tonight if running without SP1 makes any difference.
