My WoW RaF tactic for max XP, max toons and fastest leveling: Request For Comments.

This is what I'm considering - but as I've never boosted or 5-boxed before, any point outs to "gotcha" 's would be appreciated.


Start 6 fresh accounts: each recruiting an other as RaF (1 recruits 2, who recruits 3, who recruits 4, who recruits 5, who recruits 6). Use your main to boost 3 at a time; e.g., BoosterToon and 1-3 RaF's for first run. Then, BoosterToon and 4-6 RaF's for second run. Triple XP should take affect for all lowbie toons, as none are tied RaF wise to the boosterToon account but are tied to at least one other RaF. The 6th recruit kinda gets it in the shorts (true MLM!) and can only grant levels to the toon he was recruited by, but 5 of the RAFs will receive 40 lvl grants for each alt run - so you could have quite a few lvl 80 toons in 90 days.


(Below assumes any fresh un-instance-boosted alt to be granted levels has already hit level 10 )


with 14 1-80 runs (where group one consists of 7 groups of 3 lowbie toons each ran 1-80) and (group two consists of 7 groups of 3 lowbie toons each ran 1-80) and (booster alt accompanying both), this team would consist of:
7 accounts.
* 1 booster (your existing main that already has a 90 and any existing alts), no benefit.
* 5 RAFs with 11 lvl 80 toons each and a mount ( 7 toons instance boosted + 4 toons granted 70 levels each, per account)
* 1 last recruit with 7 lvl 80 toons, no mount.

My only tank appropriate toons will be a lvl 90 druid in feral appt quest gear and a lvl 57 death knight.

Think this can be done in 90 days at 14 hours a week? I might hate WoW after that.

(Note: I'm aware of the no follow fiasco in BGs)

I'd consider doing at least one set through honest dungeon levelling. Boosting gets old fast. Why do you want 7 accounts total? It would make more sense to chain off of your original account

Old > A > B > C > D so that you can boost four toons at a time rather than three. You should earn more than enough levels this way (remember that the granted levels count as levels,if I'm remembering correctly) so after one 80


D > C 40 levels

C > B 60 levels

B > A 70 levels

You'll certainly end up with whatever you want on account A just from granted levels.

What is your goal? You building a 5 man PvE team? 7-boxing PvP?

1.) Goals: PVP, PVE and grind gold with the first 5 chained recruits. The 6th recruit would be shelved or unsubscribed. Eventually, I might unsubscribe the main BoosterToon I boosted with.


2.) Why no chaining from my main: I wanted to avoid chaining off my main BoosterToon account because, as I understand it, if I were to instance boost with it, the +4 level difference would hurt the 3x XP gains for those following. (3x XP gains for recruits might not occur correctly if a high lvl account greater than 4 levels is linked via RaF. But if fresh lowbie accounts are chained via RaF, AND not linked via RaF to a high level account, then the 3x XP gains occur and boosting by that higher level should be 3x faster.)


3.) more on 6th toon: I need the 6th toon to be on the butt end of the pyramid scheme that chained RaF can become (The last guy getting it in the shorts). (Of Interest: Blizzard's RaF seems unavailable in some countries where MLM/pyramid schemes are illegal).

If 2.) is wrong, then luxlunae's method would be a decent option and bugger 3.)

2) if you do the referrals as a > b > c > d> e, and boosted them thru with a 90 on A. Then B would get raf from it's relationship with C as long as they are within 4 levels of each other. It would not be affected by it's relationship with A even if they are more then 4 levels apart.

Go with luxlunae's method and scrap #3.

Well, if you can get 5 toons to que for randoms together, leveling is super fast. Boosting is not necessary. You will get a full level from just getting the bonus quest from completing the randoms. In this case I would just chain off of your Main account. Just make sure every group you level up, at least one can que tank and one heals....... This way boosting is not needed and would be much less of a pain in the ass. Plus, you actually get to play the group instead of dragging them around.

I like the dual chains.
A > B > C
A > D > E

With the booster on 'A'.
Even though the A > B and A > D chains are invalid for RAF... the B > C and D > E chains are both valid, so the boosted accounts BCDE all get RAF bonuses.

And because A is linked to the dual chains, they receive granted levels.



For RAF to work, you need to meet all of these criteria:
a) Accounts directly RAF linked;
b) Characters grouped together;
c) Characters within +/- four levels;
d) Quests and/or Mobs killed, not greyed out for either toon;
e) Characters both at 79th or lower;
f) Within a certain range of your RAF partner



If you 'boost' four toons on BCDE, with A.
-- E grants two toons to D
-- C grants two toons to B
-- D grants two toons to A
-- B grants two toons to A

Then because B received two toons, they can grant one more to A.
And same deal for D, granting one more to A.

Special note: You can grant one level, for every even level your toon gains from 2nd to 78th.
So if you start at 55th as a Death Knight, that is (56, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66, 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, and 78)... 12 granted levels in total.
Everyone else grants 39 levels...

You're the same percentage into your levels, when the granting is done, as before it was done.
39 + 39 = 78, not 80.

So if E is granting levels to D...
You would make a toon on D, and level them to 2nd (and be as close to 3rd as possible)...
If you accidentally reach 3rd, via exploration experience, you'll want to kill a few things and get almost to 4th.
Anyway, 2 + 39 + 39 = 80.

To grant a level, you need to be higher level than the recipient, and directly RAF linked (you referred them).
Also they cannot be 80th or higher.
So an 80+ can grant a level to a 79 or lower.



A group that can do LFD, with all of the bonuses, will level basically the same pace as a boosted group.

But you'll need one toon that can spec tank (even if you don't).
And a different toon that can spec heals (even if you don't).
The other three can be anything.

You'll also need to actually be able to do the dungeons.



A booster is the other option.
If you're brand new, you'd quest or do dungeons, with an initial group that includes a toon who can boost well on 'A'.
Those are generally Paladin or Druid, but almost anything else will work to some degree.

If you're starting on a brand new server...
You could server transfer your single booster, with some resources (bags, gold, etc)... to play with other boxers in a boxer guild...
And boost away...



The reason for the double chains, is the cascading of granted levels.

For every hop in the chain, you need to exponentially level 2 toons, for the granted levels to add perfectly to a full toon.
So with two hops, you get 2^2 (2 x 2 = 4).
With four hops A > B > C > D > E, you get 2^4 (2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16).
Meaning with four hops, and a maximum of 11 toons on an account, the cascading levels will not work... so you won't end up with a full toon, based entirely off of granted levels received... without wasting a lot of those granted levels.

But the 'anchor' account receives nothing.
So A > B > C > D > E... has one achor account, 'E'.

While the dual chains:
A > B > C
A > D > E
There are two anchor accounts, 'C' and 'E'.



Still with the dual chains:
A > B > C
A > D > E

You boost four (or do it twice, for 8 toons).
You end up with:

A: Booster + Six toons, all granted.
B/D: Four boosted toons + 2 granted toons.
C/E: Four boosted toons.

If cash is available, you can do transfers to even the accounts out some.
RAF is essentially choosing to spend cash to save time.
Non-RAF is choosing to spend time to save cash.
But you'll decide where the happy medium lies...

Also keep in mind if you were to play full time you will max out and have to start transferring toons well before the 90 days is up. Any form of boosting is just so fast.

With your thoughts of 14 hours a week you should have 1 team to 80 each week or about 12 teams. It was taking me about 20 hours to boost a team at first but I was down to 12 hours once I got into the groove.

/General: Player gains 300 experience (200 exp Refer-A-Friend bonus) {all recruits under a high level main.}


Clarified: even if one or two lowbies are RaF chained to the to a high level, all recruits get the above message, as long as the toon chained to the high level has at least one toon chained below him within 4 levels.


Thanks for the info. I was afraid that a high level recruiter would diminish at least one recruits xp gains (or worse case, chain diminish for all of them)
