should 1 dive right in?

Well im wondering if to invest my time and hard earned cash in boxing this game but haven't quite decided yet.

I have played it a few times in the past but have never stuck around long as it seems less of an MMO and more a single player game.

So....

If i was to go full steam ahead, is mining the answer and not too boring, or should i be thinking of mission runners instead. The only thing I didnt like about the missions was the constant zoning in and warping every 5 mins.

So I guess im looking for any kind of views, thoughts, tips and suggestions really before I commit my self. :rolleyes:

The two things you mention (mining and missions) are generally considered "solo-ish" things to do in the game(there are mining fleets and there are mission fleets like level 5's, but in general it's solo). Missioning is better money once you get to level 4's. Missions are the equivalent to quests in wow (which is normally solo-ish). Mining is like...mining in wow. Sorta (also solo) :)

That being said, if you want to "feel" the game and the people and you are really new go join EVE University http://www.eveuniversity.org/ You'll get training, practice, and an instant large corporation full of people like yourself. Do that for a bit and then decide on your path and go join another corp.

If you want to multibox I'd run 1 guy at first in EVE Uni and either have other toons just training up the basics (electronics 5, mechanics 5, engineering 5, space command 5, frig 4, cruiser 4...things like that) so that they have a foundation when you learn the game and can then select what they are going to be doing or just wait to bring more than 1 toon into the game until you know and understand whats going on.

Either way, make 1 toon, pay for it, then use that toon to do buddy invites for however many other accounts you want and say you want a PLEX as a reward if they sign up. Use the full 21 days of trial for each of those invited accounts for training, then you'll get an email from CCP saying they'll give you 90 days for (I think) 30 dollars for each of those accounts to start. You can do that or go monthly, but as soon as you pay for those accounts to upgrade them from trial to full your primary account will get a PLEX per account you activate.

If you can get into the game with 1 or 2 toons. Then you probably OK to multibox in a larger format. Both missioning and mining have its pros and cons to them, you mention some of them for missioning already, especially with the agent rating change in the last year.

I started solo, which i highly recommend doing. I now 10 box the game, not as active as i really only log into help bridge people around our space/into combat or boost for the mining fleet. I will eventually jump back in full steam again, after my minecraft addiction fades away. Its like half my corp all got addicted to minecraft in the last 3 weeks. Only logging into change skills and do quick CTAs.

The game is what you make it for the most part, your given a lot of tools and things in and out of game to make it fun. Which lots of outsiders say is Eve's innate flaw (being player driven). Sometimes i see issues with the game and sometime i dont, but generally its a mental state, as i look for reasons to hate the game when im mad at it. At that points its good to take a few months break, which is good because you'll still skill up(if you have a paying sub), and then go back to it later.

Corporations due tend to make game for most people. I've met a lot of good friends in EVE, and do this day, 5+ years later, we are all still good friends and play other games together, which some dont even play eve anymore either.

The learning curve has always been a pain so I will defiantly be checking out EVE university for some help.

I did do a bit of dual-boxing mining years back with 1 hulk and something to ferry the minerals about, but did get bored. I was in a corp at the time that did mining events so that made things a bit more enjoyable.

Im probably heading towards mining as I wont need to be 100% focused but then with the increased isk/hour I might give missions a try first.
