Noob with some questions.

First I want to say thanks for the great resource that is provided here. I've been able to make a lot of progress with isboxer and dual boxing just from reading the forum post.

I Started dual boxing last week, RAF leveling two wow druids from scratch after re-starting wow. I haven't played wow in two or three years but got the itch and found out that RAF was the fastest way to level.
Last week a good friend of mine and wow player told me I could have his account. I also took advantage of the black Friday deal and picked up 3 copies of the $5 battle chest.

My new gifted account has an 89 Warlock and an 85 Paladin. This will be the account I use to boost the other accounts. Call this Account A.

On my MoP account, lets call this account B, which I started new last week, I have only a 40 druid and a bank character. I also have my RAF account(call account c) which also has a 40 druid.

The characters on A and B/C are not on the same server, and I'm okay with all my characters ending up on account A's server.

My plan is to use the A account Paladin to boost accounts B,C plus two of the $5 Battle chest accounts(D and E) to 80 to level grant back to A so that I end up with a Level 80 of each class on account A. If I really get into multiboxing I may decide to keep up the teams on accounts BCED, but initially my goal is simply to level grant back to A.

Here is where I run into questions.
1) How to structure the RAF chain in order to make this the most efficient.
I've read through a lot of post here and keep seeing Ualaa mention level cascading, I have no understanding of this concept at all. Do the levels all end up at A or what? I'm missing something here.

2) I've never played a Paladin before. I was leveling the druid(a class I have played before) to take the role of booster in the future but then my friend decided to gift me the pally, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, or gift Tauren, as it were:cool:, but I have no idea how to play this character as a booster. I intend to start at the low level instances and run through them before taking in the teams to boost, just as a learning experience.
What advice can you give me on Spec, Glyphs, gear requirements and especially rotation for boosting with an 85 paladin.

I'm sure I'll think of more questions but these two seem to be the big ones I need to get a grasp of before I actually can get started. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can give.

The account your friend gave you... is not in your name.
If you use it, pretty much you will be banned permanently at some point.

It is not all that uncommon to be reported for boxing.
It is actually fairly common.
One of the first things a GM does is checks the names on each of the accounts, to ensure they match.
If they don't match, you could easily be a power leveling service who is boosting another account for cash.
Or something else.

The point is, if you box you will be reported.
And if the accounts don't match, you will lose them at some point.
I wouldn't invest anything into accounts that are not entirely your own.




Cascading works like this:

Your chain is A > B > C and A > D > E.
Which is actually two chains.

When C/E (and B/D) gain an even level, they can give a level to the referring account.
This is done via, "Grant a Level", which is an option if you right click on their character with your own.
They have to be targetable, from the same server, be your current faction and be lower level than you (and no higher than 79th).

Strangely, 1st to 80th... is 39 even levels, according to Blizzard and not 40.
But if you have a toon at 2nd level on B... and C grants levels, they can get that toon to 41st.
If you level two toons on C, you can grant another 39 levels, which with the first set is a total of 80 levels granted.

Because B gained 80 levels, they can give 39 levels.
This is 80 levels gained, based entirely off of levels given from C...

A boosts four toons on BCDE, from 1st to 80th.
Which means C/E can each give two toons to B/D.
(Just as B/D each give two toons to A).
But B/D have gained two toons (from C/E) so can each give one more "cascading" character.

I agree with Ualaa. Boxers are despised by a lot of people, and as such are subjected to heavy scrutiny. It's best to try to avoid giving them a reason to ban you. Plus, the minute we log into the game, whether we think about it or not, we become ambassadors of this relatively small multi-boxing community, and the community is judged by how we conduct ourselves.

Actually, many people will think of us the same no matter how we conduct ourselves. Just look at the forums. Simply existing is enough to rustle folk's jimmies.

Back on topic - I'll join the bandwagon about using your friends account. You've got some potential for a ban there, and I wouldn't recommend using it.

Paladin is probably still one of the best classes to boost with. I did it a long time ago when RAF was 1-60 and got a group leveled in just under a days played time.

Hey all thanks for the replies. I get what ya'll are saying about the other account. I've decided against going that route. I am just gonna level up a team together and then use either a pally druid or DK to boost.
Any suggestions as to which one works the best? Also what would be faster, leveling just a two man team with RAF through questing or leveling up a 5 man team with RAF chaining dungeons with the LFD tool?

If I level two man I'll probably stick with my druids if I go five man from the get go I'll probably go pally priest mage mage hunter. Would that team work out ok?

And just a clarification question on the level granting. Only the first direct link in the chain can grant back to A, correct?

A>B>C
A>D>E

Only the levels gained on B and D make it back to A without a transfer, right? C and E can only grant levels to B and D and these levels are stuck on B and D?

In general, the best boosters are (in no particular order): Druids, Paladins and Death Knights.
They're tanks and have good AoE attacks.

At lower levels, something like a Hunter or Elemental Shaman might be superior.
When you approach 80th on the characters being boosted, your booster needs to efficiently deal with bosses that hit a bit harder.

I've boosted with a lot of classes, and am currently using a Frost Death Knight for this set of RAF.



With RAF, it's very quick to do dungeons with the LFD tool.
That assumes you have a composition which can complete the dungeons with ease.

To use the tool you will need one toon who can spec into a tanking role.
A different toon who could spec into a healer role.
That's not saying you need to spec Tank and Heals, but if your composition could not, then the LFD tool won't let you queue.



A > B > C
A > D > E

Only levels gained on C can be granted to B.
Only levels gained on E can be granted to D.
Both B/D will grant levels to account A.

When B receives levels from C, half of those levels can be granted to A... ie., they cascade.
Same for levels gained on D, based entirely off of being granted to D from E.

If you boost four toons on BCDE, with A.
And then BD create two toons, and level them to 2nd level.
You can give two full toons, from CE to BD (that is 2+39+39=80 and 2+39+39=80, on both accounts).
Similarly you create four toons on A, and level them to 2nd.
B grants levels, getting each to 41st; then D grants levels to each of the level 41s, which gets them to 80th.

After C & E have granted their levels to B & D...
B/D receive two full characters each.
The two characters granted to B, can grant a character to A.
Same for the two granted to D, which add up to a character on A also.

If you boost four toons on BCDE, with A.
You end up with:
A = Booster + Six Toons from Granted Levels.
B/D = Four Boosted Toons + Two Toons each from Granted Levels.
C/E = Four Boosted Toons.
