Macro: Reacting to user commands?

This might very well go against the EULA or ToS so do forgive me if this is a bad idea and could get someone banned for trying it.

Could you create a macro/UI mod that had the client act based on chat messages. For example, imagine the following.

You have 3 accounts with 1 character each account. First is a Mage, Second is a Priest, and Third is a Warrior who is being played by the primary player.

Instead of using something like KeyClone, what if the user would hit macros in his UI that would automatically have him issue out /party chat commands. These commands would then be interpreted by the Alt machines, to perform specific actions like "Mage Assist me", "Mage AttackChain1" or "Priest Heal Self", etc. And those actions would have some very specific meaning to each client/character. Note, as a safety measure, the Mage and Priest would only respond to the Warrior's commands. (i.e. me) Thus they can't get controlled by some other random user out to screw with me.

It has a lot of flaws, but it would be a neat design. Over all,your 100x better off using say KeyClone, but the idea tickles me as something that would be rather neat.

Not sure its against the EULA or TOS, but they pretty much removed this functionality in 2.0. There used to be a popular mod called WhisperCast which did close to what you describe. It is now defunct.

I think its also considered botting :)

Next step from that would be automating health watch, and auto respond if health gets to low etc etc... :)

WhisperCast was the most annoying mod ever. Back in the 40 man raid days, we had a priest that refused to buff people because he had WhisperCast. So in retaliation we would spam him whispers and have fortitude recast on us every 2 secs during trash pulls. :P

What it comes down to is whether the functions are protected or not. During combat this is pretty much impossible, But out of combat, I believe that Twinbox toolbox provides whisper based promotion of party members etc.

Quick question on that API stuff.. when it says protected.. does that mean that it's use has been removed (ie simply wont work) or that if you were to use it it would be an offence?

If the API is protected its still in use but only useable by Blizzard Programmers.

The protected functions come in several flavours, from a macro point of view, therea re only 2 to worry about... those that won't work in macros at all and those that won't work in combat.
