Sooo my choice is buying an additional 22" monitor OR an X-keys pro..
I realize there is a big price difference with the two, however my wife will go along with me getting one or the other ..
any thoughts?

I would much rather have a second monitor. So far my problems are a result of the windows being too small.
Lemonade Stand = both!
When I want something I just make sure my wife gets something nice as well. It's hard for her to complain in that case :D
oh she is very well taken care of... :D.. otherwise she would have killed me when i bought the new pc and didn't tell her.. and hid it in the basement for 2 months :D
Sounds like me only I'm stuck between the monitor and a new video card. :D
it really depends what u are in need of most.
do u find yourself running out of keys to bind to?
do u find your gameplay being hindered because of the fact that your wow's are too small?
my first instinct would be monitor, but i also have no problems with key binding locations. and i dont have a wife holding me back from getting both :P
If it's such a close-run thing that you're asking for opinions here, go for the screen :D
I'd *sorely* miss either of my X-Keys now (stick for tanking, pro for healing) but I'd miss any screen real-estate much, much more!
This is just my opinion but I'd go for the extra monitor, it makes a world of difference when you get 2x the space. Another option would be getting your hands on a 19" or smaller and play your main on there and put all the toons on the 22". That way you'd probably save some dough and put it toward a X-keys (or at least $100 of it).
I was looking into getting an X-Keys Pro a few weeks ago but realized with a few adjustments I have more than enough bindings.
movement - EDSF (WT for turning which I rarely use anymore)
Bindings: 1-6, Q,A,Z,X,C,V (Alt, Ctrl, Shift Variations) = 4 sets of bindings
Bindings: F1-F6
I use F8-F12 for switching leaders (and keyclone PiP)
Even after all these bindings I was running low, so I took advantage of the Home and Numpad keys.
Home - Pg Down = Drink, Eat, hearth etc (Insert I use for a custom camera view for all chars)
Numpad - 12 or more extra functions for totems, healing etc.
It takes a while to learn how to switch from mouse to numpad easily but as a multi-boxer all I really use the mouse for is selecting targets and panning the view as needed.
I tried other gaming pads (n52, G15) and I found myself annoyed that I had to switch hands every time I needed to chat.
