How do you swap/backup keybindings?

Alright, so the other day I decided my Warlock was way too low on Herbalism - so I loaded her up on my main PC and left all the other toons in the stable. After fight 1 I realized ... her keybindings were all wrong for how I'd play a warlock that had all the focus (they have lots of things they need when playing solo that they don't care about when playing with groups). So, as I ran across abilities I needed I simply remapped them as I saw fit - this wasn't the computer she was on normally ... so it shouldn't matter... right? Sigh. Oh so wrong. Blizzard stores the keymappings up on the server (yay :pinch:) so... after having a blast with my Warlock for a couple hours and I finally decided to bring everyone out to run an instance ... I find that all her keymappings were overwritten.

Here's the problem. I enjoy Multiboxing, but I also want to take my toons out to run on their own. Key bindings that make perfect sense as a member of a team suddenly seem really ... lacking... when it comes time to run solo. How do you guys get around this? Is there a way to "fool" the server so it doesn't save the mapping? Or, better yet, a way to save out a Keybinding Template ... so I can have a setup for MBox play and another setup for when I solo?

You have two sets of configurations in the WTF folders. One will be account specific and the other will be character specific. If you backup the entire WTF folder and copy it to whichever install you want to run on it should work...theoretically, as long as you copy all the addons as well.

That is what I thought as well at first. As far as my addons are concerned this is true and works fine (my layouts worked fine switching from one layout to the other based on whether I was taking an alt out for a solo spin or if they were marching with the team). The addons keep the data on the client - and so it only cares about the settings in my SavedVariables folder. However, if I have Ctrl-Alt-Q set to "Shadowbolt" on my alt (this is my G1 key, so not as weird as it sounds) then my normal setup ... doesn't play well. Instead ... I want to hit "1" and have that fire a Shadowbolt. So, I go ahead and do that. Play for an hour, then decide to play the whole team. Load everything up and ... now the Warlock has "1" as Shadow Bolt. Even if you exit the game without saving your settings it does this. Even though "1" is actually BOUND to "BongosActionBar1".

So... bind multiple things to Bongos you say? That's fine until you have a binding you actually want to change... like having Shift-1 set to Drain Soul instead of Life Tap (simply as an example).

I guess an addon that could mark your current bindings on the server and "rebind" them all might be needed?

The bindings aren'y stored on the server btw. You can test this by renaming your bindings file before you start WoW. If they were stored on the server you would load the server copy -- instead you will get the default.
