5 boxing combos question

Hi all.

I'm trying to decide which option is better. At the moment I'm leveling 3xmages, 1xlock,1xpriest. After watching some of the movies I started thinking if 4xmages or 4xlocks wouldn't be better??

Initially I was thinking of putting together a 1xwar/3xmages/1xpriest setup balanced group but with the amount of dps from casters I'm debating if I should switch to 4xcasters/1xpriest. And if I go all caster group which would work better locks or mages? Affliction locks seem to be able to last longer as they can dot/drain tank; thought can you dps a boss down quick enough with mages that lack of mana never comes up. Any tips are appreciated.

I am totally new to all of this, but here is my take:

The 1 priest/4 warlock or 1priest/4 mage combo would probably be easier to work...but I was actually thinking myself of going 1 priest, 1 warlock and 3 mages. You get all the DPS you need, a tank from the warlock, and plenty of heals.

Thats my opinion but controlling 3 different classes will be a bit more challenging i figure ;).

I have 1 priest 2 mages and 2 locks and it works just fine. If I were to do it again I guess I whould do one more mage but a couple of weeks ago I was ready to drop a mage to add another lock.
I guess it's just personal preference: as soon as you decide to use both classes any combination will be fine.

Locks and Mages have SIMILAR spells - not exactly the same but I could see 3x mage 1x priest 1x lock being viable - with more utility. May not be the best for PvP though....

although the stamina boost would be nice and soulstone.....

All else the same, 3 classes is more complicated than 2 - but depending on your play style and preferences, 3 1 1 might be a viable method for you.

having the ability to Soulstone and rez the rest of your party works .

i havent played a mage much seeing my current project is only lvl 20 .

but mages/warlocks certain spells can me "combo'd together"

What level are your toons Bunny? I might dabble a little bit into the 5-box arena, but not with 4 of the same class. You mentioned possibly 3 locks, a priest, and mage. Just what I was thinking about this morning. Wondering if such a group could take on heroic 5 mans.

hmm.. I think I'll stick with leveling my 3/1/1 group but I think I'll create a few alts to fill all lock/all mage groups. Level them only when they have rested xp.
Seeing 4 locks life drain and 4 mages aoe looks like too much fun hehe

Has anyone tried any of the tcb instances with 5boxing? How was it?

Locks hit 20 and the priest hit 21 last night. I have about 2 days /played but I afk or idle quite a bit so that number is not really accurate. I would say perhaps 24 - 29 hours of actually trying to level. So not too bad for 5 characters that I have never played before. I don't expect to win any fast leveling prizes though.

Names are Xyzin, Ayzin, Byzin, Cyzin, Dyzin.

It is a bit slow while I tweak my UI, macros, learn how to play locks, etc.

Fun though :)

4 locks and a priest? Do you anticipate it being easier or harder to 5 box instances vs the mages + priest?
