Is a group of five shamans a doable combination in PvE? I've noticed frost shock now generates threat as well, which should help making it possible to hold some aggro with one of them acting as a tank. Can a shammy tank survive in dungeons against trash mobs? And using earth elementals against bosses?
Frost shock generating threat is for kiting {IE, Frost Shock > Dog form > Unleash Weapon}, not tanking. Shamans don't have any other tanking tools. It may be possible as a gimmick, but my Enh Shaman crumples like tissue when she steals agro off my tank.
Not right now, you'll need to get a tank if you want to get anywhere. I'm sure you'll be able to get some bosses, but I doubt many in heroic mode. When you outgear the content, then who knows, it might work.
Wrath pretty much made it impossible for a five shammy PvE group. Bosses started hitting ridiculously hard and even moreso now. Four shammies + tank = better.

That's true for most non-tank groups; I've seen videos of five mages doing stuff.
But they're not going to clear content that is current, as in that provides upgrades from the mob drops.
Later, towards the end of the expansion.
When you have badge/point rewards which are three or four tiers higher than heroic drops...
Non-tank groups might be able to clear many instances again, but that's a year and change from now.

And using a few earth elemental against dungeon bosses isn't an option at all when playing current content or?
only when you vastly overgear it, I assume you mean heroics
The Earth elementals get 1 shot by bosses quite often. So it can buy you maybe 5 - 10 seconds, but not much more - at least for most bosses. They can't reliably tank at all. Maybe you'll find a few bosses that you can do with earth elementals and spam heals, bosses that are a bit gimmicky.Quote:
