I'm using the 1x Paladin/ 4x Shaman, and here's the main tips pre-lvl 30.
Paladin will spec AoE-prot. There are plenty of guides online for that - but try to always have a shield spike in use! All 4 shaman should be going elemental spec. Early on, the paladin won't do much more than aura/bless/heal while the shaman 4x lightning bolt & 4x earth shock while laying down searing totems. Once you get retribution aura & consecrate (and the righteous fury talent 3/3), it'll be hard to pull mobs off the tank, even if he's barely attacking. Consecrate will be the primary tanking tool so far.
Once you get magma totem, you can AoE grind easily. For non-instances, I've been having fun running around with my pally, using Blessing of Freedom if needed, gathering up mobs. Once I have a large enough group - lately around 10-15 mobs, I throw down consecrate & 4x fire nova totems, and all shaman cast a healing wave on the paladin to top of the health from the damage he took running around. The fire novas should pop when that heal finishes, so lay down 4x magma totems. Heal the paladin as needed, refresh consecrate, and drop 4x more magma if any mobs are still alive. Usually they're ALL dead before the first 4x magma totems expire. I'm thinking that maybe I should have gone with more +fire totem damage talents until I hit 32, then respec for chain lightning talents. Oh well - it's been fun so far.. :)
