I'm using the 2 step macros for my team, but at level 70 with more or less equal gear, i find my mage doing 1400 dps and my locks between 650 and 710.
Anyone have a suggestion for where to start looking for ways to optimizing the lock dmg output, or would this be a normal difference in dps due to mage dumping mana faster than locks?
Lock dps is more or less at par with the Warrior tank.

You're going to need to provide far more information than is in your post. What are your toons? What are your macros? What spec? What gear? Target dummies or trash mobs or boss mob or non-elite....

It's gonna be hard to beat a mage who's spamming Arcane Blast, POM and Mirror Images. At least until you run out of mana on the mage.
it looks like your proc casts AB 2 more times. So you could have cast AB like 6x in a row before you use the proc. So it'll take a TON of mana, but it will hit really hard.
If I spam AB long enough I'm hitting for 75k crits on my 85 mages. Which is well over what I've seen any other class do.
I've got a hunter, boomkin, and arcane mage, and the mage consistently beats the others by ~1k dps. Most of the gist I'm getting from forums and such is that mages across the board are overpowered.
I'm using Jamba proc and 2 buttons. I spam 2, when missiles proc, I spam 3 for a few seconds. I haven't really figured out a way to manage my boomkin's eclipse procs, so that probably has something to do with her being that far behind the mage.
At 66, on a 60 dummy, over about 90 secs I average just on 1500 DPS on each of my Destruction 'Lock and Arcane Mage. My Elemental Shaman is only at about 1200 DPS.

Yes, I use character-specific macros (while leveling). Main drawback with this lock rotation is that it churns through the power. But I haven't had a boss fight last over a minute in BC yet.

I saw exactly the same happening in my group. destro lock did crap dps, then came the ele sham who would do some pretty good dps and then the arcane mage topping charts anytime. At the lower levels the downside of arcane, being that it should cost a lot of mana, get's neglected pretty much, since bosses die quite fast. Once 85 you'll see your arcanemage's dps drop significantly on bosses.
