Monitor help...

Hey folks,

Looking at purchasing a couple of new monitors to replace my old Acer AL2216W and Iiyama Prolite E431S.

Looking for a 1920x1080 minimum display.

So far I've come up with 3 contenders:

Viewsonic VP2365wb

Dell Ultrasharp U2311H

NEC Multisync EA231WMi

Leaning towards the Viewsonic one, lowest price, similar screen but no DisplayPort. Not really an issue but if ATI graphics cards keep using DP then this could futureproof the monitors.

Am undecided yet and looking for some knowledgable people to offer some advice :D

I would probably go with the Dell one. I have the U2711 and it is a stunning display.
You will need at least one display with DP if you decide to got the eyfinity route in future..
(Still have to get over the trauma of actually buying a Dell though :) )

Can pick the Dell up for £250, so I think I've convinced myself that the £40 more per monitor is worth it. the advantages of having Displayport more than justify it. Plus if I buy from Dell at £260 I get a 3year pixel warranty too

Mines a bit better 1920 X 1200 but not with new display port and what not HP 2335.

Most of those monitors are IPS already.

Also, whoop-d-doo 1920x1200.

If you play windowed @ 1920x1080, the 1920x1200 monitor is nifty for being able to access your taskbar or media player buttons or whatever at the bottom. So, whoop-d-doo back at you. ;)

[edit] I have one of those Viewsonic IPS panels at work and it is very nice. Probably not as 1337 as the Dell but we also paid about a third of that for it.

Good point, and phooey on you.

The whoop-d-doo is meant for Sam anyways.

I play full screen (no tile), more area is a bit more of the world that you can see a bit sooner, not much of a edge but at highly competitive contests even the smallest edge is an edge.

My panel is the same thats in the Apple (well the 4 years or so ago apples cinima something). Looked up what apple used then bought the exact same panel from HP at also 1/2 or 1/3 the price and bought it used, and got a free upgrade on one of them cause of a pixil problem.

I've been buying only viewsonic monitors for years. Ive never had a problem with any of them. My current monitor is very similar to the viewsonic you listed and i like it.
