3 or 4 boxing eq2X

Hi was wondering what would be good to add to a 2 man team of pally and defiler which i am pretty set on using as my tank and healer. any suggestions on what would go best with these 2 as starter? Preferably free classes but one more can be any class. Thinking of adding 1 or 2 more to team depending on if my comp can handle the 4th or not. I know i need some dps with these 2 since neither the pally or defiler put out a lot of it but pretty sure they will be able to stay alive fairly well.

So what would go with pally defiler to help the most in a 3 man and a 4 man team 1 can be non free class in eq2 xtended but def the 4th will have to be one of the available free classes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking warlock if i go 3 man for aoe to go with pally aoes but not sure and if not what would be good?

Ok I now have pally to tank , defiler to heal and a warlock to dps not sure what to add as a 4th or if i should drop the lock for something else. Would dirge or troub. be better for this group?

I am personally going through the same thing too, on deciding the optimal team.

I am working on a 4 player setup:

Right now I have:
Monk for tanking
Templar for Healing
Illusionist for Mana/Dps

Haven't decided what I want to do yet, but thinking a plate tank would be a lot better.

And not sure about the last 2.

Would a bard be good enough mana regen, or even how much mana regen is needed for a 4 player group?

Seems like we both have the problem with the last 2. I am more biased for casters, and agree 1 of the slots needs to be a good DPS slot.

Yeah still not sure either although i did make a warlock but no9t liking him that much. Did make a dirge to but i think i made mistake on it mostly becuase i think i am going more caster. Are the pally skills that deal arcane dmg which is a lot of them considered magic dmg and would benefit from troubador buffs or would melee dirge be better for him? Was trying to get some synergies happening but none of ones i did choose seem to do that atm:)
May even switch tank to sk at some point and go with troub over the dirge to make it more caster based group? hehe kinda wanted the pally though for the better survivability over sk but is it that much? so far its not and nothing i want to make atm really goes with pally since not many other classes do arcane dmg that I know of? Aside from illi coerc which don't really want to play atm.

Looks like i am switching team to be sk, defiler dirge and either necro or maybe inquis any thoughts on this?

Don't really need the inquis for healing so will be specced dps melee if i go with him necro was to go with all others doing noxious dmg so not sure on 4th yet.

Friend runs a warden as his main so def don't need the inquis but can't think iof anything besides it to go with team other then necro which i hope will be easier to manage dps of with pet doing a lot of his mage pet of course. He also will be running another class as well with us not sure what he plans for it yet.

Anyway any comments on this setup would be great or input on what would be better please?

update went with sk, defiler, dirge and for my 4th went necro its only on a bronze account atm.

Kinda funny my defiler is specced for pet heals and the necro pet is healing almost as much as it is. Ie the mage pet has some healing so far defiler has been mentored down to the necro's lvl and necro is 26 defiler 35 but doesn't seem right that necro pet has more heals then it? the defiler pet is supposed to cast wards which it does but it seems necro pets healing for more and not sure who its healing but it is healing so very weird might have to spec defiler dif if thats the case. Prob to low lvl to tell though I guess.
BTW info for seeing came from act and logfile parse in it.

Necro is doing pretty good dmg with mage pet doing most except for sk but thats cause i can manage sk better being the main. I think dirge would be second if i got him into position better and prob do better on single target fights as well.

I have tried a bunch of different setups:

My main is Monk, Temp, Illy, Conj

I have mixed and matched Sk, Dirge, warlock, additional healers, and this seems to work the best for me. I wanted to have dirge instead of Illy to help the tank... but the illy was better overall.

I haven't tried using a necro instead of the conj yet, thats what I will be testing next.

Reason i wanted the necro over conj for my group was the fact that its also noxious dmg which goes with sk, defiler and even the dirge since he has the poison in his spec. To bad dirge can't use poisons but at least gets poison dmg from aa.
So far defiler doesn't do much dmg since he has mostly has to heal.

Atm team at 38 on all but necro who I have mentored down all to him and he is 32 which we are in place with mobs 32-39 which makes it a bit hard on the higher ones mostly heroics of course as it is a dungeon.

But going well.

Pretty sure my comp can't handle any more then the 4 but i do have second comp so you never know may someday add something else although no idea what that would be if I did anyway.

Still working on macros for others attacks ie the best sequence for them to make it use right skills without overwriting dots to much prob put longer dots on sep keys from other things eventually. Hard to tell how dmg is going since I have nothing to compare with really. Soulrot on the necro is a given as the skill at bottom of macro since it will fire the most there because of how macros work in eq2 ie fires first queues last and soulrot lasts as long as the cooldown so works well there. Others not so easy to figure out where to put them so other things get to be used as well:)

Woot i have click cures working for healer using addon that puts the cures to be clickable just have to remember that healer is at top and tank is second but on tank its other way around so have to click right spot to make healer cure him others are right order already to bad can't set order to always be same on all clients for group frames.
