Now that is how things are supposed to look. My friend works at Cisco Systems and their server racks are a mess. Huge Rooms with racks up and down isle's and not a single rack looks clean. Let me get my hands on that. I like doing stuff like that
The racks where I work are a mess too. I once took a tour of an EMC location in Boston about 5 years ago and they had an impressively wired computer room. They tightly controlled how wiring was done and everything had to go through a wiring group for approval and for installation. It was nicely colored coded, channeled well, all the wire cut to just the right length, etc.
It was probably a real pain for those needing new equipment to be installed, but they sure kept a tight ship on it. At least that's the way it looked on the surface. Maybe there was a messy room behind a closed door somewhere.
This reminds me its time to clean up my study lol!
I'm meant to be doing this at work soon but meh :/ We move stuff around so much it wont last !
All of the lower pics were of the back of patch panels where you expect them to be neat :)
Its funny how nice new installations can look... just wait a few years and revisit some of those cabs though ;)
Mine are never that neat but are functional, you can extract all servers on rails with no service interruption ;)
just wish the same were true on 1U servers :( DL365s are great but...
